Hi, some great records there plus family harmony guaranteed now Tara has less need to nick Dad’s records. The Velvet Underground and Nico, Autobahn and London Calling three of my favourite albums. @Tara, be interested to hear what you think the the Velvet Underground once you’ve had to chance to give it a good listen. Everyone needs some Stranglers in the lives. Never thought of Rattus as a gateway to prog before but now you mention it, Down in the Sewer is very orchestral….🤔. God bless Jim! Andy

Hello from New Zealand. Good collection of records. I'm in my sixties in age, and I have a large music collection. From the 1960s to the early 2000s. I liked the British Glam Rock scene in the 70s. T Rex was a favorite of mine. I love that song Ride a White Swan. It was sad about his death in 1977. He liked Punk Rock music and so do I, I like the Stranglers and the Sex Pistols. I saw John Lydon and his group Public Image Ltd in the 1980s. I also had the pleasure of seeing David Bowie in concert in 1978 here in NZ. He toured with his Stage concert at that time. It was blast. It's great to see you younger generation into music that i was into from the past. From Carl.

So happy for you guys! Its people like Jim that still give me faith in humanity. Was sorry to see your haul didn't include Soft Machine Third but you'll eventually score that one, I'm sure. I don't know how many on here agree with me about Never Mind The Bollocks, but to me, it's a phenomenal piece of loud punky rock. I've always loved it. I have never understood how The Stranglers got a punk label. They are proficient musicians playing proggy stuff in a different vein. Plus, how the hell can you call a band punk whose keyboardist has long hair and a mustache? Cmon, man...Same exact situation with the American band Television. It aint punk. And lastly, you might be happy to own it, but Sabbath's Live At Last is in the top five of worst recorded albums of all time. Mine sounds awful. My brothers copy sounded awful, and sadly, I think yours will too. But what a haul!

@SpinninProg I think the first formation of Roxy was the very best the one with Brian Eno, I genuinely believe the first Roxy LP was one of the very finest" First LPs" in that it really was like absolutely nothing else, undoubtedly Prog too, Stranded, For Your Pleasure and Country Life all classics..people make a case for Siren and Manifesto but...weren't Roxy becoming a bit of a Brian Ferry Backing band by then? I'm probably being harsh but in 1972 they were genuinely awesome. Interesting (nerdy..anorak) factoid, (Prog Credentials) Brian Ferry very nearly got the vocalist job in King Crimson..true

Your Doors’ story is fascinating! I sold my entire collection as well but for a different reason. I went through a period in high school where I was literally obsessed with them after reading Jim Morrison’s biography. What an excellent pile of albums to be had there. I noticed when Tara was showing hers that many had some kind of outer protective sleeve. If they are the type that are "hard", that means its made of PVC, which are bad news because they can cause what's called "vinyl misting", so I suggest you immediately throw them away and/or replace with Polythene ones. @@SpinninProgI've never heard of trying to fix a scratch with boot polish Dermot🙈, but I'm definitely guilty of trying to listen to warped albums or bad pressings (where the needle skips or sticks) by putting a coin on the stylus.
