Robbery of the century. People talk about Renaissance not winning but Lemonade still hurts to this day. It was the definition of AOTY. Musically and specially culturally. No other album was as talked that year. And it's frustrating because - counting Renaissance - it's the third time she is CLEARLY robbed. BEYONCÉ lost to a guy that nobody even remember, Lemonade lost to 25 and Renaissance lost to Harry Styles. People like adele, harry and Taylor are winning for making the same music over and over whilst Beyoncé is being ignored while changing the industry.

The album visuals provides so much context to this album. Definitely recommend reacting to that. Also, if you need closure from the cheating, you can listen to Jay-Z address this topic from his perspective in his 2017 album called 444. In 6Inch Heels, I feel like she is talking about herself, not the other woman. She basically recognizes that she tried to put the relationship issues/separation to the side and be a performer, world traveler, professional (she doesn't have to give it up, the other woman did), and didn't lose a step. She recognizes that she accomplished that publically. She wanted him to see her out there doing her thing, and want her back. Not her come back wanting him. But in truth she did want him back as well and there was affect on her.

Many people don’t get 6 inch in the context of the album. After B found out about the cheatation she actually focused heavily on her work. She took her baby and left for Paris (at the end of sorry she does talk about him finding the note in the hallways bout the time he finds it she’ll be far away) in Paris she was grinding just working working and working some more. (Probably to forget and keep her mind busy as we all do sometime in the face of trauma). In the song she talks about the grind and how much she loves it while by the end all those distractions don’t keep her from missing her husband, moving us into another phase of healing. Love this track, live this album! For the people interested dissect podcast does a beautiful job breaking down the songs/visuals!

Don't Hurt Yourself: Her Glastonbury set where she covered Prince and then Sex on Fire is vocally similar to Don't Hurt Yourself. That's also the track that has the entire Beyhive praying Actiii is a rock themed album. Daddy Lessons: A lot of OG Daddy Lessons stans consider Daughter the spiritual sister to DL. Around the time B separated from her father as her manager it came out that he'd been cheating on Mama Tina, had a whole kid on the side. She went from deifying fathers in her music to seeing them as complicated but loving. Even before that, the break up of Destiny's Child v1 was attributed to his ruthless, almost cruel prioritization of Bey's career over the other girls. If you watch the visuals for this album (with some guidance, cause it's very culturally coded) but taken as one whole project Lemonade tells the story of a woman seeing pain and disrespect in her personal life and looking to the women around her and those who came before her for guidance. Freedom: The vocal technique you're looking for is "growl". In the Renaissance doc Beyonce talked about how she developed it as a child due to a vocal injury where a producer kept making her do it over and over until she had to go on vocal rest, but after that it became a fixed component of her tool kit.

6 inch is one of her best songs ever! The sound, the grit, the emotion and pain, just beautiful! To me the song adresses that moment in a situation of betrayal when you just don't care anymore, you're completely empty inside because of the all the anger, the worries, the realization that this has happened to you. It's apathy after all the turmoil. Of course a workaholic like Beyonce talks about diving even more in her work, grinding day and night, from Monday to Sunday, so she doesn't have to "feel" and think. Her work becomes her distraction and what saves her from the whole situation. What a song!🔥🔥

You should react to the performance that led to her making Cowboy Carter. DADDY LESSONS at the CMA 50th Anniversary special. The Chicks performed it with her because they loved this album so much that they covered this song on their tour. Beyonce was impressed and respected them as a fan of theirs. The CMA'S invited her to perform that song because they needed to viewing numbers. It was their highest viewed awards show. The Chicks hadn't come to the CMA'S since they were banned from it because they questioned the performance of the then president George Bush about the war. Lots of toxic and racists comments were put on the website, and instead of backing the artists they asked to come, by shutting down the comments and leaving the performance up, the CMA'S did the opposite. There were people, other artists in the audience that were talking about her while performing, and some walked out. I forget which celebrity guest said it, but they said that while they were in the audience they were hearing things like "Get this black b***h off the stage." In Cowboy Carter, track 1 she sings "There's a lot of talking going on, while I sing my song. Can you hear me...or do you fear me?" This song addresses that issue and the backlash fueled her to write this album, and also Act 1. The CMA performance is spectacular.

The second verse of Hold Up really is her kind of digging into him. She is talking about how when they first met. He was having trouble being taken seriously in business spaces. When she says they had you labeled as a king, she means a kingpin a drug dealer. Never made it out the cage, jail. She is saying to him that she elevated his life. This takes us back to the upgrade you song. She is a true supportive partner and helped make him who he is. And she really truly loves him. In the Lemonade album, she eludes to him, showing her his scars meaning his vulnerabilities and his insecurities. So after listening to this album for eight years, I really feel confident in stating that Jay Z felt like she was too good for him and subconsciously sabotaged his relationship with her, she made a decision to stick it out with him and help him get past this hurdle in his own mental in order to make him a better person and a better husband and father. She’s an amazing woman for that. She didn’t have to do that! But Man does he owe her everythingbecause she did.
