It was really interesting to see that cop inquring about the use of the tape. It shows he's a self aware person who realizes he doesnt and cant know everything and it shows willingness to learn and grow. He recognized that James is passionate about his job of watching cops and that he's put in time and brain power to make sure he's educated as possible about laws and even the cops own job. I just hope time on the force doesn't train him away from those good qualities and turn him cold.

As a news cameraman in the 80’s-90’s we commonly went under the yellow tape and very rarely got stopped or questioned. Even in sensitive situations like murder scenes, frequently drive-by shootings. Things changed for us as media companies, local stations got bought up by companies like GE, or AOL. The desk attorneys and editors would give into the police calls to the bureau about limiting access. It was always understood until then that as a journalist we knew the risks and had the professional experience to say out of the way and report the news. I’m glad to see you and your ilk of journalists have been challenging that freedom of press in the streets like the old days. Maybe the Fedora with the “press” tag in the brim might even come back...

The cop on the horse seemed decent and even extended his hand to James in this day and age that's a rarity, and James rightfully shook the cops hand. Respect begets respect, usually it's the cops demanding respect while humiliating and disrespecting. Seen too many bad cops expecting I'll see bigfoot or a unicorn before I come across a good cop.
