From a 1971 biography of AL Capone, quoted from memory: "If the new prison benefitted anybody, it was the wardens of the old ones. During the 1930's, a decline was noted in federal prison violence, partly attributed to prisoners' fear of ending up on 'the Rock.'"

Alcatraz used to be a place where it had prison. Many people tried to escape but have drowned in the ocean. The ocean is very cold so it's hard to swim there. :o

i read about it to day it was a really secured prison and was really expensive to keep open, later then it became weak walls and steel bars broke down becuz of the salt air

It might look like shit but it's going to be a sanctuary soon. Take back roads if your traveling far to get there. Also if you see small towns then scout them before going through. I'd suggest checking police, fire, and hospital stations.
