you mentioned how theres nothing really in between polymer and the grid and that just made me think about how cool it would be if it was possible for bitwig to allow us to make our own grid based devices with a simple ui like polymer.

I might be wrong but in the context of Trash, the "bipolar" refers to through-zero waveshaping, and not an independent distortion style in the negative and positive domain - like what Rift does ;) Also I don't think they said it was the "first" just that is was "groundbreaking and unique" which is standard word usage for plugin sales.
@Alckemy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input dash! I went back and watched the demo video and they categorized it as “worlds first bipolar processing engine” at around two minutes into their walkthrough. Regarding the negative quadrant of what trash does I think I’ll look up and make sure I know what it does too :)

Discovered Objeq Delay a month ago for myself and was shocked at how underrated this plugin is. everyone thinks it's just a delay effect. But it does what no other plugin can do. By the way Objeq Delay is the Corpus in Ableton.
@Alckemy3 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure I mentioned that objeq is third party corpus but I agree, it’s really good

Great video, the Portal looks crazy! One very obvious omission though, from watching your vidoes... where is the G-clip?! you use it all the time, and the saturator plug-in you showed might be a bit more expensive than a simple clipper? Correct me if I'm wrong... but again, thanks for the awesome video, i'm more of a default bitwig device user kind of guy but if i do go for plug-ins, the ones you showcased will be my first choice
@Alckemy3 жыл бұрын
Yes, gclip is the free alternative to saturate and the only reason I left it out was because it was replaced. Gclip is great, and free! But saturate sounded so good to me that I bought it

I feel like if we would get an interface designer and "sub-grid"-functionality it could be on par with Phaseplant. Imagine building and easily swapping your own components/modules in The Grid, and build synths with customized user interfaces/controls... I imagine something akin to Polymer but much more customizable.
@Alckemy3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea! I think the biggest advantage of phaseplant is working Vertically (edited) and being able to drag modules around. Bitwig is kind of semi modular. But the workflow is slower because of the device view imo.
@Alckemy3 жыл бұрын
The grid is actually just fine, but they don’t have conventional devices that you kind of have to put together yourself.
@TheDaniman8883 жыл бұрын
@@Alckemy I agree, it would be awesome to create devices/presets and put them right back into The Grid. It would save a lot of time and make it much more user friendly. Not to mention it would be a lot of fun sharing creations with others. I definitely see the point of using Phaseplant, though. Seems like a great synth.
@TheWilliamSnfrd3 жыл бұрын
Im waiting for the exact moment when Bitwig adds MSEGS and some more robust filter options to the Grid and I predict then you could essentially make your own Serum synth inside of the Grid. Also a subgrid container would be essential to cleanliness as I have seen custom reverbs and such designed with multiple delay modules, but they become quite large. And the funny thing is we already have a subgrid called FX grid, it just needs to be able to be nested within a regular grid device and have its own macro menu available in the grid UI as well.
@MarcoPolux3 жыл бұрын
@@Alckemy exactly! At times, I do not like the Device View..... it is soo constrained and I don't know why they haven't make a Maximized View for devices....

Must have plugin for Bitwig Studio: Bitwig Studio! Honestly tho, most of the plugins here are either already present or can be re-created (using The Grid). Would it take some time up-front? Probably yeah, but it's a rewarding learning experience. Though I do understand if someone would want to skip that part and shell out a few $$$ for a 3rd party plugin or two.
@Alckemy3 жыл бұрын
The grid is great! There’s just some stuff it can’t do though. On one end I agree that you could probably make somewhat of an alternative but there’s a logistical and efficiency consideration in why I wouldn’t want to try to make a compressor that’s also a hard clipper lol. Also the target for this vid was mainly people considering switching to bw from ableton and leaving some key tools behind. Cheers!

I love Bitwig and I only have 16 track. Is there an equivalent for Ableton's Simpler out there? 🤔 Really miss chopping breaks with it

Bitwig has slice to multi sample, slice in place, and slice to drums:) it’s unfortunately not like simpler where you can change the chop on the fly but check out my bitwig sample video for a simpler Esq technique if you are doing anything but chopping breaks

Man, I am such an overspender that I literally already own all of these (and many more) Saturate is the best plug-in of all time, in my opinion, and that the Glue compressor is in stock Ableton is the biggest crime against other DAWs as it is the best drum (bus) compressor available For anyone who is not able to spend the 80-ish bucks on portal while it is on sale, there is argotlunar, which I honestly really like. It might not be as clean and it looks a little old, but I think it gives really nice textures. Edit: Also, as a video idea: Maybe show off your favourite bitwig presets? Like, I for example use some EQ presets or the multiband dynamics/OTT clone and also the scratching thingie, but I don't really know what else is out there and am not sure where to look. Could be an interesting video, since I know Ableton has some pretty cool presets that are a little "unique" (like the reduce ambience one)

It sounds like you’re good to go for essentials😅 I have way too many plugins myself but I try to be rather minimal when it comes to stuff just because I prefer to use a few tools as best I can and I do everything from scratch, but I agree with everything you said! You know I don’t think I’ve even looked through all their content… I’m so used to doing everything from an empty project so maybe I will. Thanks!
