When I researched this, I couldn’t find a video review testing the difference between recording quality with and without the Alctron PF8 PRO.
The Alctron PF8 PRO is a portable vocal audio booth microphone sound barrier filter alternative to the Auray and Kaotica Eyeball and an upgrade from its former PF8.
These are $80 on Amazon.
Comparable is the Auray ISO-ARMOR-2 Microphone Isolation Chamber.
The best review video out there is in Chinese, so hopefully mine in English will be helpful to some. Enjoy!

Useful video. Thanks. I did not hear a full elimination of the room sound. Which that iso pop filter is meant to achieve.

As has been mentioned, the non-pro version is cheaper and judging by how little difference this one made, the non-pro is probably just as effective and less top-heavy on the mic stand. I imagine it would work ok if used when mic'ing a guitar cab at low volumes where you want to try and block out the sound of the guitar strings in the room... For that I might try the non-pro version as it's less than $20 where I live.

Creo que enfatiza mejor el sonido del micrófono y si elimina un porcentaje de room, pero deja otro muy perceptible. Pero creo que mejora mucho la calidad del audio captado.

I own both the PF8 & PF8 Pro . For deep voices the Pro seems better. I think the metal vibrates with low tones has something to do with it. On the other hand the PF8 works better the PRO in my opinion.

I think if you move closer and maybe either turn down the gain or lower your voice, it would work better. I want to try this but I don't know if it will work with front-addressed or top-addressed mic like an SM58 or SM57.

@@ryanreach3710 I have the same mic. All you have to do is keep the mic in the shock mount and attached to the stand. Put the pf8 on top on the mic with the shock mount, it's basically just sitting on top but it works fine

@@whatareyouselling9811 when I do that the capsule barely reaches over the bottom part of the foam. From what I read in the instructions the capsule should be more or less in the middle and the sound is quite weak when it's barely over the bottom as mentioned. I'll experiment a bit more as you suggested but will probably just buy a cheap smaller shockmount. Thanks!

Ok but where shall we put the ipad or the script so as to read the script? also for sure there will be a feedback to the mic because the mic is just isolated from the back and the sides as there no hood on the front so there's no isolation in general...thats why i see that its a doable idea and i wont recommend it, thank you.

Minimal difference. Would be interesting if there was more room treatment.
@PhilLarsonMusic
@PhilLarsonMusic 3 жыл бұрын
Sure but then since it doesn't do too much, you maybe wouldn't need it at all with more room treatment. The real test (I hoped) was for it to be effective in a minimally-treated room.

Get the isovox! honestly i tried so much "to safe money" that i would easily could have buyed the isovox ... and the iso totally got rid of the room sound ...i totally recommend it ... the other recommentation is the ev re 20 and talk right into it with the lips on the grill ... the louder you are/ the closer you are the less will the room interfere and since the prozimity effect of the re 20 is not that bad it is the go to mic for me

I don’t think it’s worth it, for the same price you could just acoustic panels and AT THE VERY LEAST , just treat all of your corners which are the most important part, corners are like satellite dishes and pick up noise and throw it back to the other end of the room
