similar RECIPE
1 small onion, diced small
2 tsp. olive oil
1 T minced garlic
one 15 oz. jar Rao's Alfredo Sauce
1/4 tsp. black pepper (or more, to taste)
6 cups cooked, diced chicken breast (see notes)
6 cups broccoli florets (or a little more)
1 1/2 cups grated Swiss cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 375F/190C.
Spray a 9" x 13" casserole dish with olive oil or non-stick spray.
Dice up a small onion, heat olive oil in a large frying pan (big enough to hold all the ingredients), and cook the onion over medium-high heat until it's starting to slightly brown.
Add minced garlic and cook 1-2 minutes more.
Cut up rotisserie chicken (or chicken breasts you cooked yourself) and add to sauce mixture. Simmer about 5 minutes.
Cut up broccoli into bite-sized pieces, put in bowl (or large 8 quart glass measuring cup) and microwave the broccoli 1-2 minutes, depending on how cooked you like it.
Gently stir the cooked broccoli into the chicken and sauce mixture.
Add 1 cup of grated Swiss cheese, and gently mix the cheese in.
Then transfer the chicken-broccoli-sauce mixture to the casserole dish
Top with the rest of the Swiss cheese and the Parmesan cheese
Bake 25-30 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbling hot and starting to brown on top.

I remember Aldi from shopping there when my kids were babies. Bread was 25 cents a loaf. They had 5lb canned hams for 8.99 canned vegetables were 19 cents. Good old days

My Aldi still sells plain white bread for .55 cents per loaf. Sadly, it has a GMO ingredient listed on its wrapper. I'm baking my own non yeast bread to compensate. Peace and Blessings everyone 🍞

My husband went to the grocery with me tonight. I couldn't make it earlier. He did pretty good on finding 'extras' & he helps pack and carry. That's a BIG help! I re-paid him with beef stew, his favorite and iced tea ; ) Your casserole looked really Yummy! 🥘And we have the SAME dishes! Lol. I like those 'temp-tations'. They're really useful and strong and pretty. Mine are the green ones.

Tess, i found a discount grocery store, we went today, let me tell you it was a trip🤣🤣🤣🤣Being i can't see past 4 inches, it took me 4 hour's to go through it and it was a small store!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can say we got a buggy full i mean full!!!!! 5 pounds of meats everything was name brand in date!!! Im here to say i was so shocked. Because at Walmart if i had got that much food it would have been over 400.00.we spent $145.38. Yes everything was double in size as well!! I mean!!! Wow!!!! I was floored!!!! When we came out we were blessed to be able to sit and listen to the best preaching as well. God wals so good to us today.

The Casserole looks Delicious Tessie. Your noodles looked nicer than Penne. More bite sized. I like novel shaped pasta. When I was a kid we had Wagon Wheels, and Bow Ties, and a few others like Alphabet pasta. I thought they were so much fun We don't have an Aldi's over here. Frankly, we don't have nearly the cool stores that people in the East have. I believe Trader Joe's is an affiliated store of Aldi's. I don't get there very often. Take care ❤.

Penne has become a very common pasta here in the USA. I just say, "penny" like the coin. I've also been experimenting making my own Alfredo sauce, and depending on what ingredients I'm able to get, it can be much better and cheaper than Clasico or other already prepared mixes. It's something new for you to experiment with!

Our Aldi in our town in the Netherlands is set up much the same way. But not as large. We're just a small town. We are blessed that the parking is free at our Aldi so that is why my husband likes to shop there.

I don't know if you have a Save A Lot in your area, but I can get chicken leg quaters for between 50 to 70 cents a lb. When the other stores put them on sale they go for 80 cents a lb. Aldi meat is not always the cheapest.

Evening Tessie.. My last Aldi run was with elder care client. Her red book compared 6 month ago prices. They were up, but not as much as wally world or local store. Veggies & fruit seem to better quality. 😊

Love Alfredo! My hubby eats it now since I’m no dairy. But I use basil pesto and Alfredo on his pizza crust since tomato products bother his stomach. It makes a great pizza sauce

Yes that's what I do for broth and made chicken soup and bone broth too and canned it all up. And I used 2 pints of the soup,1 bone broth and I of chicken in broth. And was good.

That was an amazing price for chicken, Tessie! The best I could find was $1.99 a pound. That casserole definitely looked delicious. Broccoli casserole is a family favorite, but I like the addition of chicken to make it a complete meal. Enjoy the rest of your day! ☺️

Aldi has good prices. Still food is expensive. My thrift store went up too was disappointing. I’m going to make this meal looks delicious! I bought a crock pot cookbook at my thrift store yesterday, I use my crockpot a lot , and love it!

Penne (pronounced Pen Nay) is a wonderful pasta for a lot of chicken dishes. Chicken carbonara is a favorite at my house but, your chicken and broccoli is very close behind it! I'm so glad you and Kenny could take the time to get out and go shopping. I cringe when I hear people say they hate to go grocery shopping. Your Aldi looks well stocked compared to mine, but it may depend on what time of the day you went. Aldi is still cheaper than most other places, so still the place to go around here. I live in a tourist area, so I'm anticipating even more shortages when they come in as happens every summer.

I wasn’t impressed with Aldi last week when I went! I brought organic romaine lettuce . I kid you not, it was half the price and not to great. Still hands down over all best prices. Sadly, produce is getting smaller and smaller and the prices larger and larger. I kept the bottoms of my lettuce and plan to grow them! I mean seriously what used to be $1.29 a gallon for white distilled vinegar is now $3.25! Ouch Aldi’s!

The casserole looked good. I am not sure if you precooked the veggies and chicken or not. We're the Ritz Crackers part of the recipe? Is it a Amish thing to put butter on a cheese sauce casserole. I have never heard of it before. We don't have Aldi's in Montana. So many people talk about the good deals they get at Aldi's. Have you ever made a cheese sauce on your own. Homemade is best but Alfredo jarred sauce is very good. Thanks Tessie.

Hi Tessie!! I have been to Aldi just one time & I was not impressed!! I was disappointed that my Aldi which is about 25 minutes away from me didn't have a whole lot. I have a store called Priceless really close to me & they have excellent prices just not a lot of the newer stuff that's out. You got a really good deal on that chicken!! In my area WalMart sells 10 lb. bags of chicken hind quarters for a lot less than $1.19/lb, I'm thinking maybe 69 cents /lb. It would be worth looking into.

I had to stop going to aldi several years ago, bc of price hikes. I thought i stop in a few months ago, and WOW! Its gone way up. Sad really. Plus their food is getting as bad as everywhere else with all the non food chemicals.😢😢😢. I keep trying to garden, but i have a brown thumb.lol
