I am absolutely obsessed with this woman. She has that Bjork quality in that you cannot stop watching her and her voice and words just pull you in, deep down that rabbit hole. I don't ever think she'll be "huge" in the traditional pop star sense because she doesn't spoon feed anything to her audience. But I predict she'll go down in the musical canon alongside Patty Smith, Kate Bush, Bjork, and the like. Fucking brilliant.

There's definitely some Patty Smith vibes, in the tone of her voice particularly. I wouldn't be surprised if she was a source of inspiration, even if Aldous's style is dramatically different.

I just love this song, the words "I am at the water with baby" give a feeing of dread and of something dreadful about to happen, but it turns out not to be. If you watch the video without sound she comes across as a complete "nutter". I'm sure that is absolutely intentional. I think I might be a bit obsessed too so I'm off to stick a pencil to my face.

There is something so haunting about the pose she strikes at the end. Like she was dancing and drinking to forget the reasons she was alone, but then when faced with the opportunity to reconcile, she jumps back into her performance and drama. It's tragic and defeating but beautifully told. I can't stop watching it.

My mother died of a suicide 12 years ago. My baby sister died 5 years ago from cancer. I cleaned up the suicide so my siblings wouldn’t have to see. I lived in the hospital with my sister and nurses her as she was destroyed before her own eyes. The lyrics describe the torment I feel. I absorbed my sisters during my mother’s time. Thankfully my mother didn’t have to watch her own daughter go in such a horrible way. If either had seen each other’s demise, I think they would’ve collaborated and written this song. Instead Aldous has written it for me. For all of us who truely understand it’s meaning. I’m glancing over my shoulder at their beautiful urns as I sob listening to this and writing this.

This was my.....falling to pieces song 6 years ago. I used to listen to it because i knew it would make me cry. I stumbled across it by accident when i was breaking up with....someone.... Took me years for this song not to leave me in tears. 'I will never marry my love' used to CUT deep. Now I'm at peace I won't ever meet a love like the one she sings of.

I came to this music because I heard it on a NZ crime series I was watching an afternoon. It’s been a year now and I’m still a huge fan. I can’t explain how good it makes me feel. I understand what she means by ‘Baudelaire in the afternoon’. Try it while listening to this song. I am lucky to have french as first language so that I can read Baudelaire in its original language, and I swear it’s beautiful. As I speak also English I can tell you the mix between Baudelaire and aldous Harding is simply perfect.

I 100% totally agree, She is very unique and original, a very rare talent compared to the talentless plastic manufactured so called artists of today. She can sing, play guitar and certainly perform with so much passion and feeling. Wonderful..👍

No one mentioning Nick Cave? I think it's an absolute reference to Aldous. A poet, a songwriter and interpreter.
