@@kimma508 I've always loved fantasy/magic/vampires(remember Anne Rice's "Interview" coming out & have tried to keep up with them,the last one I read was "Prince Lestat") But,when Cassandra Clare's books started,I was interested,but,not totally invested,until it became clear that Magnus & Alec might be going somewhere. The Bane Chronicles sealed the deal & I was utterly obsessed by The Red Scrolls of Magic. Finding the online short storybof Alec's first kiss was such a treat & is possibly one of the best examples I've ever read of what it's like when the parts click into place & you know your not like the average boy. That Magnus is so gentle with him & though they snuggle, nothing actually happens until the end of Red Scrolls. That book also contains a wonderful interaction with Alec - Magnus,indirectly - and another character I love,Raphael Santiago his solitude & snipping at the party in Venice is awesome, it's also one of the reasons though I just gave in and enjoyed,very much,the TV adaptation that he/his character, both his outward appearance & his chronological age,works so well in the books,he's an almost 16 year old ,with the brain of someone of 70,who has fully embraced who & what he is. That 2 of his best friends are Tessa & Ragnor Fell gives an idea of just what an extraordinary person he really is,it's not surprising that Lily loves him so much,he's got both beauty & brains,his commitment to Magnus is so well written in Red Scrolls, that his later action is both unsurprising & utterly devastating. At the end of Ghosts of the Shadowmarket, I'm hoping as much as Lily that we might get him back even if it is the parallel version in Thule. That Alec reads his so quickly & so well that he's as Lily says(or along the lines of...) " the first person to get Raphael's telephone number" because Alec loving Magnus so deeply, recognises his sense of protectiveness toward a person he makes such a display of despising. That even his mirror image doesn't want anyone to know,he has a heart & his indignation at a child being named in his memory infuriates him. It's hard not to drop spoilers as I've read everything, multiple times,but,always enjoy them as much as the first time,I've actually reached a stage where I can choose an edited version of Magnus history as we know from his Chronicles, his friendship with Will,Tessa & Jem & then the children/next generation all set in Victorian & Edwardian London, filling in his trajectory that finally brings him to the Alec. Their part in the superb Dark Artifices trilogy & now we have The final trilogy - The Wicked Powers - finally being teased in the newsletter from Clare herself along with a hint that we might get a third stand alone #malec novel. That the Wicked Powers trilogy also contains a rare & wonderfully anarchic three-some, at a time when certain groups in real life are literally trying to set up a Dicktatorship(I'm perfectly aware of the correct spelling,but,it fits the sociopathic narcissist perfectly)where not just books are banned,but,lifestyles & even mention of them,by the unfortunately powerful lobby of the Fundamentalist,creationist far far right wing who are backing a character so vile & lacking in any form of redemption, that if he was just a fictional character,no one would believe him. The relationship between Mark,King Kieran & Cristina is written so well,that something - that could have been rather sordid comes across - as should any combination of consenting adults & the choices they make,which is nobody's business but theirs - as a wholesome & deeply loving commitment to the betterment & happiness of the individuals involved. The fabulous Diana Wrayburn & her relationship with a real warrior ,who loves her for all the atributes that make her such an awesome woman, Gwyn ap Nudd,an ageless Faerie & Leader of The Wild Hunt. That all these & more amazing characters look up to both Magnus - for his integrity, kindness,commitment, knowledge & power - and his husband,Alec who achieves a position of great importance(within this fictional universe) simply by being totally true to himself, sharing ,though maybe displayed in different ways,the same attributes as his life partner & father to their two sons. If you're still with me you'll know just how much of a Shadowhunter/Downworlder fan/nerd I really am & yes I'm always ready to 'chat' about #malec, particularly from the books,though I do think - probably by reason of the casting of both actors & their amazing portrayal, with great respect to the already existing fabdom - that both Matthew Daddario & Harry Shum Jr walked away from the whole series as the stand out couple & individuals. With very best wishes to you&yours & anyone else who's got this far -,I'm super dyslexic & have done my best at editing,but,apologies for any mistakes - everyone take care & Vote,be you in UK or USAthe coming elections are incredibly important to anyone who has feelings for Alec&Magnus & the continuation of an environment where a young person can watch the series (or probably even more so in the books) be able to recognise themselves reflected in a character or aspire to a relationship, but,most importantly realise they are not alone & there is a community out there of which they are very much a part.🏹🪄💥🔥❤️💯👋⭐️'s💯✌️
