My daughter is in the US Army and she was showing me some of her weapons, handguns, and rifles. She first, before handing me her handgun, pulled the clip and then looked in the chamber. then properly handed the gun to me. I turned it away from her and started to point it. She stopped me and said "did you check to see if it was loaded" I looked at her and said, "no you already did that." She then proceeded to educate me on the use of firearms. "YOU NEVER ASSUME A GUN IS UNLOADED UNTIL YOU CHECK IT YOURSELF."

But the actors are not allowed to manipulate the weapons themselves (except for what they're doing on screen), that's the armorer's job. RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED. RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY. RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET. RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET. -Jeff Cooper's 4 Basic Rules- ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to open the action or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does. Know your target and what is beyond. Be absolutely sure you have identified your target beyond any doubt. Equally important, be aware of the area beyond your target. This means observing your prospective area of fire before you shoot. Never fire in a direction in which there are people or any other potential for mishap. Think first. Shoot second. Know how to use the gun safely. Before handling a gun, learn how it operates. Know its basic parts, how to safely open and close the action and remove any ammunition from the gun or magazine. Remember, a gun's mechanical safety device is never foolproof. Nothing can ever replace safe gun handling. -NRA Firearms Safety Rules-

He breaks down a few times but it’s not just about her death, also his movie making experience... so all about him 🤷🏻♀️ Generally, his tone just feels cold. He’s all about defending himself, more than the tragic incident and how it could have been prevented... perhaps it’s just how he deals with it.

I don't think it fair to criticise him here, it's a horrible accident on his part, the pain of that trauma will be bad, trust me. The victim would not want Alec scrutinised to this extreme, more likely, she'd want us to all focus on how on earth that live bullet got into that gun. If it turns out Alec put it in there, then have at him, otherwise, we should be blaming the person who put it in there and ignoring Alec altogether unless he is somehow otherwise involved, but i'm pretty sure he is an actor, not a hitman, so i don't think he is.

Baldwin is anti gun and refuses to understand them or be trained in their use because he doesn’t respect weapons but he wants to make millions using them... he’s going to learn the hard way that you can’t say “I was just doing what I was told” when it comes to guns...him and all the other incompetent people in the chain of events are individually 100% liable...and if the cinematographer told him to point that gun at her, she has partial responsibility too. (That’s my opinion & I could be completely wrong)
@TheKOzality3 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you understand exactly what that would entail. For the scene in question, the gun would have been loaded with blanks and if the gun is a revolver (like in most Westerns) then all you see is the back of the bullet which is identical for a blank or a live round. So it is critical that the person's job it is to load and verify the weapon, the Armorer, does their job. It would be entirely unreasonable to assume that the actor would be the one checking because then you would be expecting them to unload and load a weapon which is already someone else's job. This is absolutely a tragedy and someone lost their life due to it, but there should never have been live rounds on the set and I highly doubt Alec Baldwin was responsible for their presence on set.
@EndTheMirage3 жыл бұрын
In this case it is not Alec's responsibility, but the lead armorer's. Right before they start filming he gets the gun handed by the armorer, who is to make sure the gun is loaded with blanks and the barrel is clean. The actors are not allowed to mess with the guns in any way. They are only allowed to do what they're instructed to do by the armorer. If I was him on set I would not check the gun either, since that is not my job and it's better to leave it to the professional. I may have asked the armorer to show me the gun is loaded with blanks, but I definitely wouldn't do it myself. It's like a chemistry student accidentally injuring someone by creating an explosion, even though he did exactly what he was instructed to do by the teacher. In that case it was the teacher who made a mistake and therefore got another student injured. Same thing goes for this situation. Alec is the student and the armorer is the teacher. He did exactly what he was instructed to do, therefore the responsibility lies with the armorer

You have to understand that when it comes to guns on a set, actors are basically children and the armorer is the parent teaching them how to handle them safely. If a kid follows the parent’s instructions and still manages to accidentally break something, it’s the parent who is at fault, not the kid. Same thing in this situation. The armorer is literally being payed to handle full responsibility of anything regarding the firearms, not the actors. Otherwise what’s the whole point of having an armorer on set if the responsibility already lies with the actor, that just doesn’t make sense. Even if I loaded the gun, I always open the cylinder to check the load, if that checks out, (no safety on a revolver) but on other guns, the safety is on. I take the safety off other types of guns before I ever even think of firing that weapon. If someone - ANYONE - hands me a loaded gun (regardless of what the person says about the gun or what their job is - now I'm going to fire it - so I do exactly what I described above! Gun is bad, boss baby wasn't in charge. He's only the boss, but didn't make the final decisions. So, like most people who push for gun control he blames the object. And not the person whose hand is on the trigger. If he mimics a gun, and has to go "bang" for the cameras they should use a toy squirt gun and finish the rest in post. He didn't mention that the truth is he was engaged in horseplay, the cameras weren't rolling and he was not called to be aiming a gun in the script. His bravado and "look at me, I'm a big man with a gun" attitude was likely in response to these exact safety concerns. Budget, Alec is the budget, I'm the Boss Baby look at me! Forget the Camara man just walked off the set, this is about me! @@anonimushbosh Who said he did it on purpose? LOL. You don't have to kill someone on purpose to warrant criminal charges. On purpose would be first degree murder; people are saying he is guilty of negligent homicide/manslaughter/etc. Not one person has argued he did this on purpose, that it's first-degree. So you're concocting this straw man to attack to help with your cognitive dissonance and it isn't very productive. And let's see, would it make him innocent if he said he was doing fine vs. him getting on here and trying to get us to all pity him? No. What would make him seem innocent is if he shut TF up until the active investigation was over and simply, ya know, SAID NOTHING AT ALL. It doesn't matter if someone else said it was safe. Prop guns can still be lethal, and any person holding a firearm, be it real or prop, no matter what others said, is the last link in the chain and they have to still treat the thing as if it was a loaded and real gun. You wouldn't ever point a loaded, real gun at someone, so neither should you with a supposed prop one. You always treat it AS IF it was real and loaded, and Baldwin didn't. He is in some sense liable, and that's why he's being sued and there's an investigation going on to conclude exactly to what extent his liability holds. The lead armorer too, would be liable, as well as a bunch of other people involved in this whole thing, not just Baldwin. I'm not saying it's first degree murder; it's some kind of manslaughter or criminal negligence. Let me run this idea by you. Let's say I take a real, loaded gun and hand it to a random stranger in the street and tell them, hey hold this prop gun for me for a sec. And then they decide to goof around, point it at another stranger, and shoot them. (This is a one to one with Baldwin's case since they were not filming a scene when this happened, Baldwin was just goofing around.) Do you not think the stranger that shot the gun is in some sense liable, criminally?

Aside from that, anytime any wrong-doing takes place on set, just like with any other occupation, generally the heads of production (or the relevant area of production) are held accountable in the eyes of the law. Aside from that, Baldwin was reported to have explicitly asked if the gun was unloaded by asking if the gun was, “cold,” a production term denoting that it has no live ammunition. He was also then told the same thing again- that the gun only had blanks in it. Then there’s the fact that distinguishing the two can be impossible in some cases, as the blank rounds may not have crimped heads and there are some bullets that have designs that resemble those of crimped blank heads.

He was negligent yes but usually they hide behind plexiglass which is bullet resistant so had there not been a live round this wouldn’t have happened but it’s his fault for being negligent but not for putting the round it there.

But as far as actor is aware, the gun is set up as a prop to fire blanks, and the weapon is the responsibility of the armourer or the trainer.

I worked in film for 17 years. He is 100% responsible. More than the AD and ARMORER as he was the films producer. They are responsible for hiring those positions and ensuring the safety onset

There were 13 producers on this film bro. My guess is he provided cash and maybe had a bit of creative input, but considering he was playing a main role, I'm guessing he delegated the hiring of staff to others

He’s only responsible from a financial standpoint, if even that. The person most responsible for this is the person who put live ammunition into a prop gun on a film set. The person second most responsible for this is the person who was in charge of firearm safety. She failed at her job.

@@user-ir8mf7km6w you are an imbecile to say that changes nothing...it changes everything..By your logic the President is responsible for every action of every soldier.. The CEO of a company is responsible for the actions of every worker... foolish

A docu-series implies that the production is meant to educate and provide facts, this is more of a melo-drama than any type of documentary. All of that dramatic editing and BS lol ABC Entertainment strikes again.

Agree ... the lighting, the background colors, the different camera angles when the actor cries... this felt like paid programming.
