Cool to see the man behind the editing. One of my favorite things about this page is that the forge work is stylish. I like the information given with every video and learning with you guys, but the style and flare the videos are made with make them enjoyable to everyone, not just metalworking/blacksmithing fans.

Just a thought, it might be interesting to see some of the more logistical parts of the workshop. I’m sure you guys aren’t just a bunch of kids playing games around fire and dangerous tools. Teach us how you use the equipment safely. My thoughts on this started thinking about how you were just a wee lad when you started and I’m sure you’ve had to learn many times “don’t touch the glowing red things”

He’ll be able to post it home and at that size it’s legal to own. We aren’t allowed to carry knives in public unless they are being carried to / from work or are an integral part of our job. We had / have a small knife crime problem so the laws are really centred around having them in public. Perfectly fine for him to have it at home, I’ve got bigger knives in my kitchen here in Buxton, England. 😀

It would be great to hear more from you about the "organic" nature of metal and how it moves. Forging is clearly not just about hammering a piece of metal into shape. It's more about understanding how it reacts and wants to move. 4:13 gives us a taste of that. Please explain more of its nature as you go in future videos.

I remember when Jamie took over. His editing is the reason there is an Alec Steele show. Good work Jamie! Alec, before you started the Zweihander you asked for suggestions on what to do next. If that's still open; I have one. Maybe try forging closer to the finished dimensions of the pieces you work on going forward. Getting better at that will save you time in the grinding room (though there obviously will be some) and material (if you're closer to final dimensions from the forge, there's going to be less metal ground up).
