Your videos have inspired me to attend my first black smithing class in Waco Texas. And boy is my arm tired. I spent 8 hours in front of a coal forge. I hammered out three twisted hooks and a mounting rack. It was hot, dirty, but worth every minute. I'm a little jealous that you make this look so easy my friend. Keep up the good work.

Alec, what you needed for the inside corner radius is called in Britain a "corner radius end mill". They come in a variety of diameters and corner radii. There is also outside corner rounding and chamfering end mills you can get.

Cut twice, measure once! That's Alec Steele's motto! It makes me laugh in a good way to watch you tell yourself that you are going to do things the right way, but end up making mistakes after mistakes! But no matter what you fix them to perfection! Never stop making mistakes! The greatest inventions were mostly created from mistakes! Plus I love watching you learn and grow! Also a PS. You didn't surface grind so you would have more material to work with.

The style endmill you're talking about could either be a bull nosed endmill or a corner radius endmill. The former has a large radius with a flat face, the latter is more or less a flat endmill with a small corner break.

looks like today episode was a lesson in working smarter not harder. Thats my motto, why having done alot of mechanicing, welding, grinding and general making, I still have relatively soft hands. If im getting a callus, or hand abrasion, from doing something, im not working smart. (exception comes from repeated tasks with consistent form like Archery) As soon as a saw you put the sanding block in the vise I knew the light bulb had went off for ya.

Alec, if you take a four or three, maybe a two flute endmill you can one order them with slight radius ground on the tips,($$$) or take a normal end mill and grind them by eye. Your literally just barely knocking the tips off. It will give you that radius you are looking to file in next to the guard.
