You couldn't shut him up when things were going his way. Toughest guy in baseball when all was going well. Now, he quits in the face of struggle. His confidence wasn't real. It was based on his success. Which means his confidence wasn't supreme. If it is real, you are the same person on the good days as well as the bad days.

If it's true it looks extremely bad on him. Does he not realize the Jay's sent down Roy freaking Halladay back in the day and he only came back to a hall of fame career?? And he's way younger than Roy was at that time ie he's lucky to be in the Major's at that age in the first place.

That's why Halladay is one of my favourite pitchers of all time. It takes grace and humility to swallow your pride like that and do some self reflection and assessment. That he not only did that but came back to arguably become the best pitcher of that era demonstrates the kind of person he was.

He came back this year heavier than 2022, I don’t think his out of shape body could take it. Ryu came back having lost weight, Kikuchi didn’t go back to Japan during the off season and stayed behind in Arizona. He apparently pitched most every day sending tapes to Pete Walker for tips either good or bad. Look at them both now whoever would have thought these two would pitch like that, I think Manoah hit the big time too fast and too hard his arrogance showed on the mound to other batters. I doubt we will see him back just by not following instructions laid out by upper management, wish him well I do hope he can turn himself around.

watching him pitch has led me to believe that his problem is mechanics...which is likely what the coaching staff of the Jays think as well...which is why they are sending him down. The minor leagues are more than just replacement depots for major league teams. There is far more instructional coaching at that level. Manoah knows this is just proving he has become uncoachable.

Alek had so much potential to be the Blue Jays main homegrown Ace, he had a rocket start to his career, An All-Star and Cy Young finalist last year. However too much talk and inflated egos got the best of him. He struggled so much and subsequently demoted to the Florida Complex League. It should be noted that Roy Halladay a HOF pitcher wasn’t great from the start. He had 10 ERA in 2000 and was demoted to single A in 2001. But thanks to his new mechanics he became a dangerous pitcher since then. If Alek continues to perform poorly like this from here on, he would likely in the list of Blue Jays “Level of Failure” (as opposed to ‘Excellence’). This is currently how I view Halladay and Manoah are polar opposites.

I really liked Manoah until he pulled this stunt. I was rooting for him to come back next season strong and better then ever. I even bought a Manoah Shirsey when he was struggling because I felt like he would bounce back. I still hope he does but wow what a Diva. I will not be wearing his Shirsey again unless he proves he has changed and grows up. Maybe we can include him in a trade for Trout this off season. Seems like a bad guy to have in the clubhouse when he thinks he is more important then the team. Hopefully he can learn from the situation and grow as a teammate and person. I can't imagine any of the other players in that clubhouse are pleased with him right now. I also wonder what effect hitting Taylor Ward in the face with a 92MPH pitch had on his confidence pitching inside. He was struggling before that but that could of made his problems much worse. I know I would not trust myself to execute inside pitches after making a mistake like that. Whatever little confidence was left at that point was probably shattered along with Wards face.

I am often in the car for 10 or 12 hours at a clip, and your videos keep me busy. For that I thank you.

The problem with Manoah is psychological. Every sport has these young players that have success and then maybe too much success and then they get overconfident. There could be other underlying mental health issues that we are unaware of. We have to look at Manoah''s contract, the Players Association Agreement with MLB. Should the Jays release Manoah outright and tear up his contract. The blame has to be balanced here. The Jays ending Manoah to rookie league earlier this year was not the right thing to do. Medically he was fit before being sent down in August. He has not pitched, who knows if he is even working out. It is time to release him on the grounds that he has not reported. The only worry is that he finds another team to latch on to and maybe gets back in the bigs and wins that Cy Young Award.

This is interesting in the context of the fact that Toronto as a team is #1 in ERA and saves and #3 in strikeouts. Lot of pitching talent still on that team but this guy aint it apparently.

None of this surprises me at all. Manoah has always been egotistical and selfish, you saw it in how he handled himself out there. It only works when you're playing at an elite level though.

This team is garbage. The inconsistent hitting, Guerrero and Manoah dropping off a cliff in their progression (and not caring), the whole Pride Night fiasco with Anthony Bass, and a management that coasts and revels in mediocrity. Alex Anthopoulos leaving was a warning sign.

Roy Halladay, former 2x Cy Young winner of the Blue Jays & Phillies, was sent down earlier in his career and then went on to become a rockstar pitcher!!! Manoah is only 25 & is lucky that the Blue Jays organization was putting so much stock into reaching his potential. I hope - for his sake - he didn’t blow his opportunity for an amazing career

bang on video. And to the Americans watching this, playing for Toronto can be as big as playing for the Yankees or Dodgers here. You have a whole country backing the Jays. Manoah has wilted like a flower in the hot sun and how he has acted has been a disappointment.

Alek has to grow up a little bit, he is young and full of ADRENALIN makes good coin and is just a bit immature. Nobody really likes to get messages that they are going to be sent down but if he stops and cools out his temper and starts to realize they are doing for his betterment and the betterment of the team.

The stuff is there, and some tweaks to his mechanics will help. But I think what the kid needs more than anything is to see a psychologist. I think this might be the first time he's performed poorly for an extended period, and it's in his head.

So he barely pitched 3 seasons and couldn't accept, from those that know better than him, that some things may need to be corrected? He acted like he owned baseball. Maybe some humility will help him best before any mechanics issues are addressed.

If a person cannot admit to a problem they are having then there is no way they are going to succeed. I've been following Trevor Bauer pitching in Japan. He had a few bad starts at the beginning of the season but he openly admitted he was sucking. He constantly worked on it and now he's one of the better pitchers in Japan. Manoah has way too much attitude and needs to swallow it, work on his game or it's not going to be good for him.

The trip down to Dunedin was to work on mechanics. In that first start I’m pretty sure he was told to just throw strikes. He was having issues with walking people, so they wanted to make sure he could throw the ball down the middle. Doesn’t matter how many runs are scored on him, they just wanted him to throw strikes

I believe Manoah bounces back big next year, whether thats in a Jays uni or not is still to be determined... but I feel hes gonna be out to prove to everyone that this seasons disaster was a complete outlier for him and he'll try to distance himself from the memory of this season as much as possible.... cy young bounce back? This ordeal also makes me wonder if the Jays have an underlying issue among the training staff? The players and trainers seem to be at odds this season, considering all the talent on this team and the odd struggles of various players this year... you cant help but question what the staff is putting into guys heads. Although the pitching has been one of the least flawed aspects of this team, I still question whats going on behind the scenes. Manoah wears his heart on his sleeve, which means the highs are gonna be high! and lows gonna be low... Heading into the season theres no question that a lot was expected of Manoah and this team overall, I think Manoah put a ton of pressure on himself to out do himself this season, similarly to Vlad. I think Manoahs struggles are mainly in his own head right now, maybe combined with some small mechanical issue and the results have been disastrous for him. Theirs no doubt that his ego has been badly bruised this season between his major and minor league performances this year, hes taken a few true beat downs.... with so much pressure to be successful, I can see how such terrible performances have messed with his game confidence. The question now is, is Manoah strong willed enough to overcome it all? does the organization and his fellow teammates still have confidence and trust in him to be there #1 guy moving forward? some big, big questions Manoah and the team is gonna need to figure out this off-season.
