I worked in Hajjah, Yemen as a nurse in the late 90’s. I have visited Saadah, Sanaa, Hodeidah and Aden during my stay there. Yemen is beautiful and the people are very friendly and welcoming. They open their houses to guests and are very hospitable. I have many fond memories of Yemen. Sadly it is no longer as it was when i used to live there. I sincerely hope Yemen will attain peace once again and recover its beauty.

In 2016, I was living in Canada in a very large house. The house owner Yemeni soninlaw and her daughter evacuated Yemen and came to Canada. They lived up stairs and us roommates lived down stairs. It was interesting for me to get to know the husband.

Im Scottish, now retired, i worked in a global communication industry , some 20 odd years ago i visited Sanna and although there were check points etc i never felt under threat. I met beautiful people in business, travelled into mountains in townships restraunts and the like. I've kept engaged in their circumstances and prayed for their safety and survival. They might be the last of their culture. I visited also many other countries in the region, non touched my heart so much. Something happens when you stand in the soil of different nations, it goes beyond our 5 senses. Thank you, great work, love from Yorkshire England.

Hi, I'm also retired. All my life I have wanted to visit Yemen, and other similar countries. Now, I'm not sure how easy, or safe it is to do so. IM sure I would never go alone, would really like to travel there with someone knowledgeable of the laws, and customs. Maybe Someday.

In social settings, men don't speak about women and when a women boards a bus in Yemen, men clear a whole bench for a lady just few examples. If you're really curious, you can search for women vloggers who've traveled Yemen just fine. Yemen was one of the first Arab countries to issue a drivers license to a woman back in the 1950s. Yemen itself was ruled by women which is why its called the land of Sheba and Yemeni people are very proud of their history.

Keeping it halal brother. I think we lost a lot of the concept of privacy in the west, people film literally all they do in their life. Perhaps it's cool to have some private stuff, like your family and whatnot, Idk if I would show my wife and kids online haha. It should be acknowledged that this statement does not apply universally to every individual in every country, as there are always exceptions and variations. However, after observing numerous travel videos showcasing different cultures, places, and peoples, it becomes apparent to me that people, in general, share common desires for a decent and peaceful life with everyone. The majority of individuals are genuinely friendly and hospitable. The issues always seem to come from our leaders who seem determined to pit us against each other. When I lived in Saudi Arabia, I remember the Yemeni people as the kindest and most honest individuals. Where people tried to take advantage from the Westerner left and right by overcharging, Yemeni's always set the fair price, and even refused if I wanted to pay more. I can reply as someone who has spent time in Saudi Arabia. I worked as a woodworking teacher and almost all of my students were women, and most of the staff too. Ok, it’s not Yemen, but I had an insight into Arabian culture, and Saudi is very conservative albeit undergoing a huge cultural shift right now. So, what I can tell you is that my experience showed me that women there would be considered to be oppressed by western standards, but in fact as in every part of the world, most people are happy with their culture and traditions, and see no problem with how things are. They’re not miserable. It’s too complex to explain here in brief, but by and large Arab culture honours women, and that they have enormous power in society, just not in the ways we would consider normal. Arab culture values family and tribal bonds to such a degree that they are very wary of following the western model. They don’t like what they see, and they have a point, not that I would want to live in that way, but it is clear that we westerners judge things by our own standards without knowing a thing about the reality. No society is perfect, and there are always abuses of power. Here it is as much of an economic issue as well. The poorer the families the more likely they are to adhere most rigidly to traditional ways. I’m surprised that there are no women and girls in the street in this video, but also one has to know that by day it is extremely hot, and most of the life of an Arabian city takes place when the sun goes down. So, hope this helps by way of some explanation, and that you maybe don’t have to feel saddened by that aspect of this video. Also, there’s a war going on there, and so circumstances don’t follow normal ways perhaps.

Much like Poland, it once had a thriving Jewish community that was persecuted and exiled. The Jews of Yemen are says to be the most authentic to ancient Judean practice and customs and they strongly preserve Yemenite Judaism. Jewish exiles of Yemen are the most accessible Yemenites. Though there are no Jews there, it is the most antisemitic society on earth. The less functional a country the more antisemitic.

It is just that our tradition sometimes are quite strict when it comes to photograph women. In addition to that, most of the places Mr.Salvino visited were for visitors and mainly for men but if he visited local markets, shopping areas, or schools the majority of the people he will encounter will be women. I love Yemen! From Iraq!! My great grandfather worked for the Iraqi government back in the 50s/60s, he was one of the decision makers on the orange/white taxis. Interesting seeing those colors used in Yemen.

This is gorgeous: I love all the detail, I love how hard you work to learn what it's like for people to live where they live, and you get so much detail in, while showing the broader environment: I keep having to pause and just look at hats, windows, markets, construction details, the towns in their environments. The landscape in Yemen is very beautiful with the mountains,deserts and sea coast scenery….and all we hear about in American is the bad things of war. It is a similar situation in Afghanistan….lots of war but incredibly beautiful landscapes…like paradises overshadowed by war. Thanks for the trip…most Yemeni people seem very warm and friendly….just humbly trying to make a living. New subscriber 👍

As an Israeli - this video has both put a smile on my face and saddened me. It made me smile because it is another reminder that at our core - we are all human and have much more in common than we have differences. The differences in culture are what makes the world so rich and interesting and require mutual respect. It also saddened me since I realize how much the Yemenis have suffered during the civil war, the war with Saudi Arabia and now - the Houthi attacks and the retaliation attacks from the US and its allies. The poor and weak are always the ones who suffer most and Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the world. If I were to go there (and one can always hope) - I would probably get along very well with most people I meet. We can discuss football, food, culture, life in general. We have quite a few Israelis from Yemeni descent. But if I tell a Yemeni that I am from Israel - well... there things might get tricky. Our leaders today are bringing us to the brink of doom. Tragic and very worrying times.

We all got tests from God. But we must remember, that some people may suffer a lot, but may end up better than some of us who have more resources. If you have more, then be grateful to the one true God, and don't be a hypocrite, we all have defects but we must try to purify ourselves. We will all stand alone before God. You won't be questioned by what your government is doing, you won't bear their sins, except what you do with your own hand, or if you support them. I'm a revert to Islam, i always liked the j3ws, of course, i hate some stuff the Talmud says, but the people are not the same, as the Quran says, some among them are true believers, while others are the worst, happens in a lot of groups anyways. I had no idea about your country, I thought it was nice, and only after the latest incidents I knew, I come from Argentina, so our country also did some stuff. To be fair, the land is from God, and all injustice will be erased on Judgement Day anyway, and God puts some in power, by legitimate or not means, to test them. All humans are equal before God in status, no racism whatsoever, except in their deeds and piety. The God of Moses peace be upon him is our God, and we believe Isaiah 42 for instance is fulfilled in Islam, consider this an invitation to check the Taurat and whatnot, tho none forces you. I know you are in a testing ground, and your government is indeed like that of the Pharaoh, and they may do ugly stuff to you if you say stuff, I'm not God to tell you to speak up against a tyrant, we all got less or more faith, but I advise you to remember God often, and to fulfill his will to the best of your ability, and to speak the truth. I appreciate your attitude and comment, and being critical, may God guide us all to the best, shalom.

As a Polish person living in Ecuador for a decade now I can tell you that the three qualities of the Yemenites you listed are exactly the same as those of the Ecuadorian people. Interestingly enough, two of them: strength and resilience are also strong attributes of my people but the third one would be "the never ending capacity to complain" in case of Poles... I wish we knew how to be grateful for what we have the way people from less developed countries are!
