I am 79. I am glad to be "old" because I have been able to see parts of the world before their destruction or severe economic change. Though I am an American, when I was really young, I married a Lebanese Muslim in Minneapolis. When he completed his education, we moved to Beirut right after the Six Day War in June 1967. It's all a long story, so I won't go into detail. I have seen Lebanon when it was so beautiful and life was manageable, but that started to change drastically with the civil war in 1975. Both my children were born in that area; my oldest in Beirut, and youngest in Saudi Arabia, where my former husband use to work. I have visited Egypt, Iraq, and Syria, all before the wars there. As a precocious 6 y.old I listened to Hitler's voice and registered the fear amoung. . German speakers where we lived. What is so horrifying for me now in my old age are the many parallels between the rhetoric of Bibi Netanyahu and Adolf Hitler. The comparisons to animals, nonhuman ' to be exterminated with reference to Jews,Slavs, mentally disabled etc. The horrors of concentration camps where German efficiency was brought to fulfill Nazi ideals shocked the world so much that all victims morphed into the Jews \providing the impetus for Zionism as the world shut its gaze on Palestine supporting a Jewish homeland away from Europe where the atrocities occurred. Arab nations were not consulted. It's true that a sizeable population of Sephardim lived with Christian's and other faiths in the Holy Land. The influx of the Ashkenazy Jews from Europe and later America seem to have been infected with hubris based on a sense of divine purpose; Israelis are never tobe held to account for anything they choose to do. Palestinian Christians were unable to hold Mass in Bethlehem this year due to Israeli paranoiea. These Christians are the descendants of the followers of Jesus. Israeli propoganda has reduced the Palestinian population to factions described by the Holocaust industry. USian Jews and fundamentalist Christians will. Destroy Israel with their rage and entitlement. Many devout Jews , Rabbis have spoken up about this but the screaming banshees of the Holocaust industry drown their good sense; devout Jews, Christians and Moslems ; descendants of Abraham need tobe heard lest screeching Zionists destroy us all.

Thank you for a great video about Tripoli and El Mina. You have touched on what keeps the people intact in spite of the corrupt politicians. It is their good heart, They help each other with little means. Everyone knows their neighbours, you cant eat while your neighbour is hungry. If any other country in the world had to face what lebanon has faced, corruption, high inflation, your money is frozen in the banks, no subsidised hospital system, the crime rate would have been so high and unbearable. The crime rate in lebanon is low and everyone is willing to help. I hope Peace prevails in the middle east and prosperity finds its way back to the hospitable and good hearted lebanese people.

So many touching moments in this video, but these stories of the kids just tore my heart, leaving schools to help parents to squeeze juices or sell street food. Really sad that lots of people lost hope and see no future. However, the restaurant owner I think brightened the video with his attitude and smile. A poor woman asked you:" why are you filming poor people?" The question is:"what benefits do you get from exposing poor people in a poor district of Tripoli?" There are majestic spots of ancient civilization in other places of Tripoli itself, the towering fortress built by the Crusaders (1103-1104) & many other monuments there. True, some local corrupted politicians (found everywhere in the world) promoted poverty in those areas, & accepted enormous amounts of refugees (mingling in the streets of Tripoli). They were imposed on us by the European Union..... Lebanon has a long ancient history of civilization & was exposed to many civilizations along history. I don't think any place on Earth could withstand conspiracies stirring wars every now & then not to mention the explosion of our seaport...(2020) Lebanon a gem in the heart of the Mediterranean is a major key to the so called Civilized world where you see places far worse than that of Tripoli....homeless scattered everywhere amongst filth... The kindness you experienced from those people who offered you food for FREE, you never find in other places.... Lebanon had been & still is the Educational, medical fashion & art hub of the Middle East.... I am Lebanese, big thanks to the Lebanese that were with you, you are our hope for a better future 💖 big hugs for our lovely kids with dazzling Smiles... and Hearts... For those who don't know, yes Tripoli was known to be the mother of the poor before, because the prices were fairly low and people would come from all Lebanon to buy stuffs. Yes the corruption is eating our country, but we are making our way back, maybe slowly but certainly. This video emphasizes the problems of poverty which exists sadly in many places in Lebanon and it breaks our heart... and yes it doesn't show the other lifestyle of Tripolitains. It is a complex City with different vibes, and there are places that are great, colorful, amazing vibes and very lively ..... I am of Lebanese blood having spent my youth in Lebanon, we emigrated to the US more than 50 years ago. Over the years, I frequently visited Lebanon with my family including my American wife and children. It was sad to see the transformation of the country over the years from Prosperity into absolute poverty. The country is run by an organized mafia who cares less about the welfare of the people. Last time I went back was in in 2016 to bid everyone I know farewell, but it breaks my heart to see the suffering of the people.

I cannot believe the price of things in Tripoli; I follow global politics, and it's simply sorrowful what rich "politicians" have done to Lebanon and its disgraceful gov't, especially after the horrific blast on the Beirut port. Did you visit Byblos or Balbek while in Lebanon? I'd love to see those places, and tourism could be so wonderful and profitable there, but instability caused by them basically prohibit that for a single woman. Melei spoke at WEF yesterday, and wow! as someone from Tripoli , the question that always arises is why this flourishing city went this far in terms of misery and poverty , in simple words " the city representatives " maybe are the most corrupt people ever known , take the wealthy city council as a example ( 2nd richest in Lebanon ) with enormous funds . nothing to hide that during the last 50 years those funds were merely used in corruption deals and projects .... Till this very moment it doesn't seems that there are any other alternative to choose ( those representatives ) and it's kind of devastating

I just got back from Lebanon. It’s a very poor country, a third-world country, with the infrastructure falling apart. There's no government and no police. I've never seen so much trash, just like in Egypt. It used to be such a beautiful country, and now it's just garbage. My boyfriend is Lebanese, and he's selling all of his gas stations this year and moving back to Lebanon.😖

Tripoli is very close to my heart , every trip i take to LEBANON it's a priority on my list to go there first and despite all the the shortcoming to this city I still love it , i lived there many years when I was growing up and work there too in the 70's . leaders in that city are to blame first and last . like now what prevent ( to be specific MIKATI ) from working hard to make at least a dent to help his city he is the one top billionaire in lebanon but does not invest a penny there , he should be ashamed of himself , and that goes to the other leaders there too . How about *sharing everything willfully* and I'm not being ideological really but I feel this is a way out. This will break the whole system in one day. It's just that people should trust themselves more than the system. No one should find it hard to live, eat and get a decent sleep in a home. Resources should be enough for everyone and they are. Then innovation arises and science and technology reach new unimaginable boundaries since the population is no longer oppressed. The day a robot takes your job should be your happy day. We should do the job we are only convinced of. Thus making an innovative society evolving to what is really useful, not to serve people in power or their greedy interests or banks’ usury. Money becomes then something we care less about. However billionaires are a role model to average people and this is the problem really! As if people want this bad system. No billionaire can be as such without the agreement by the general public on the scarcity of money, here comes the virtue of "sharing willfully". And btw this should start by the poor because the slightly richer and the richer might be reluctant and a little hesitant at first, but if the poor were firm, possessions lost their scarcity, and extra possessions lost their need then money will follow, reaching a new balance and the rest of the population will join making a domino effect. Then the authority will inherently reflect the usefulness and true benefit ! It's no longer a matter of possession, controlling or manipulating. A careless government won't have a medium to misuse the power to serve any greedy elite, because people are already not in need then. So we shall see legitimate governments. This theory provides a robust means to ensure justice since it starts from people's will. Please share it if you like it. There is really no time to lose. What happens today in Gaza is a natural byproduct of the arrogance of elites which happened 100 years ago back in Palestine when land was stolen and natives there didn't ever have the chance in self determination. Ever. Forget everything about democracy. All lies. And then resistance against the Z people (who control your government now) emerged and grew ever more and we reached here.

People in countries like this always blame the government or someone else for their and their countries misfortune,.etc. There is also clear evidence in this video of a community of questionable character, inbreeding, etc. You are almost 30 years older than the modern State of Israel ,yet look at Lebanon and look at the Promised Land, Eretz Yisrael.
