Very interesting for me as a Westerner. When I was at Uni in the UK in the 1960’s there were many “Persians” (as they described themselves to me) on mainly technical courses. Super guys. But that was before 1979! Interesting conversation with the cleric but you didn’t get onto what is irreconcilable between America & Iran which is that Iran does not recognise the State of Israel. Go back to Tehran where they have erected a countdown clock for the DESTRUCTION of Israel by 2040. That is not even funny & will lead to war, not peace! Regarding the economy of Iran, forget sanctions, surely the problem is more to do with paying for the upkeep & weaponisation of forward armies in Lebanon, Yemen & Gaza? Iran is putting ideology (destruction of Israel) ahead of prosperity. The Government is driving Iran into its own financial destruction. Shame, lovely county.
