Thank you for making this, makes a lot more sense than the manual.

That was a very helpful vid esp for those using this module for the first time like me.. is there any posibility that the rim of the pads would not work if ur on the preset kits

Great vid! The manual is so much more cumbersome to follow.

Great walkthrough. Can anyone advice how to solve the malfunctioning of my Alesis DM10 (2016) kit? At the first stroke on the snare and on the two first toms no sound to hear. When hit on the side at anytime the sound is audible. A strike in the center of these drums is not audible. The cymbals and hi-hat are fine. An update attempt failed because the process freezes at midpoint. Should I replace the module or the drums?

Great video thanks. How would I go about having a closed hi hat when playing double base?Thank you

I would assign a closed hihat setting to one of your rims such as the Tom

Hi I just picked up this set used and some of the toms play two sounds on the pad, can this be edited so it only plays the one I want?
@12Daze8 жыл бұрын
Can you customize each drum to only have one sound? For example, if I accidently hit a rim on a tom, can I mute the sound that is programmed to that rim, or just program the rim to sound the same as the tom sounds?
@chrishalverson52228 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Theberge If i think I get what your trying to say is yes only on the custom made kits though, but yes if your accidentally hitting the rim on a tom and don't want a cymbal or whatever is assigned to that pads rim, you change it to the same as what is on the tom. So for ex. you have a mca 8x10 on tom1 you can assign that same one to the rim, just go to category set to toms and put whatever you have on your main tom1 and add it to the rim, so when you hit rim you get same sound as if you hit the pad. Hope this answers your question. technically you could add the same sound to every pad and cymbal wouldn't be much fun though lol...

+chris halverson Thank you! And, lol... I know it wouldn't be as fun. This is my first electric kit ever.. I use to play drums for a Rush Tribute band with a large set. But, now I have neighbors, and need to think about them. I don't want to just stop playing. This kit seems the way to go. I already have the kit. I've noticed that the snare will never stay in place... Maybe that's because of my years of hitting hard. I bought a snare stand and am waiting for it to come in. My first custom drum sound will be a basic drum set... no bells or whistles. After that, I'll experiment. Thanks again for the response! Oh, one more thing... the hi-hat pedal... every time I push down... it just keeps playing hi-hat sounds.. how can I stop that?
@12Daze8 жыл бұрын
+chris halverson Also, every time I hit Tom 3, I get the tom sound, and the ride sound. Really hoping that customizing this kit will rid of that?
@chrishalverson52228 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Theberge I have to go but to help you with your last question try looking at what i wrote for TheJer1963 he had the same problem and i explained some troubleshooting tips that should really help out with that read it, and be sure that when you hit a pad you got note chase on so you can see what is being set off and then just go through and adjust the sensitivity on it. I'll be back on tomorrow please update me after you read and applied that to your kit and let me know if that helped if you understand it should help out alot. And no problem your welcome... wow a rush tribute band damn that is some insane talent there. Good day

I have a question I hope you can help with. I just bought the ALESIS DM10 X Mesh head kit. Never played an electric kit before and my problem is when I hit tom 3 I can hear the ride too. I have been trying to figure this out all weekend and can't seem to get rid of it. I also play a lot of country and need to learn how to get the cross stick on the snare working for the slow ballads. Other than a cow bell on tom 3 I just need the other rims to sound like they do on a regular acoustic set. Hope you can help out. I know I have a lot to learn. Thank you, Jerry

+TheJer1963 HI jerry yes when it comes to this kit it does need alot of tweeking and i have owned three at different times and each one is always different so basically you got what they call cross talk and i was going to make a video on the easiest way to fix this as i could be here typing all day so i will tell you two big troubleshooting tips, 1. First have your kit on and doesn't matter what kit your playing 1-199 next hit the note chase button then the ext trigger button then i believe f2 for trigger so you see the sensitivity now with the pads that creating crosstalk go and hit that pad tom3 as you hit that (while having note chase on) you'll see that not only does tom3 pop up but the ride as well so what you need to do is lower the sensitivity of the ride little by little until it does not activate when hitting your tom1 and basically you go around the kit doing that. Step two another big problem that can create cross talk is the wires themselves you've be surprised how much it helps to organize the wires and if that wire to the bell is say laying partly on the mount hitting a pad around that may cause it too activate so i also fiddle around with those as well. There are more advanced tools in the kit itself to help but i need to make a video for that but step1 especially should help out alot sometimes you might have to turn up the sensitivity on the pad to fix this problem so it can go both ways when tweeking the sensitivity. Hopefully this helps.

Thank you, I will give it a try. Now a new problem is the crash on the far side is very hard to hear. The stick hitting the pad is louder. The other crash and ride sound fine. I called Alesis and they took my name and number, said they would be calling back in 5-10 minutes. That was 2 hours ago. Starting to get a really bad feeling. I see these ending up on Craigslist. Thanks again. Jerry

hi i followed your vid all great ...but when it came to saving the new kit i pressed store and didnt have the drumkit screen or the rename screen what do i do /
@chrishalverson52229 жыл бұрын
+nik sealley Hi could you tell me exactly what it says and what your pressing such as you hit store button when your done and instead of the drum kit number, name, etc shows up. What does it say and by chance did you turn off the write protection? (if it is that, i would refer to manual and it tells you basically at the beginning of manual, atm i do not have my alesis dm10 i sold mine and are waiting to get the new dm10 with the mesh heads. hopefully it is just the write protection and it is real easy but atm moment i couldn't tell you step by step but it is in manual first thing it talks about hope this helped.

Can you change the tuning of the drums? Like if I want it just a tiny bit higher, can I edit that?
@chrishalverson52228 жыл бұрын
+Chase Gardner yes you can via changing the semitone settings if you need instructions on how to get to that I will reply in a couple of hours. There is actually a couple of ways.
@ZandrielGrimm8 жыл бұрын
I'm just trying to get an idea of how to edit this drum kit. I plan on getting this first and then one day get a Roland TD25KV. Or if it ends up well, an Alesis Strike Pro. Most likely the ASP lol. But for now, I can't really afford $2500, so since Kraftmusic.com is having a couple bundles that involve some really good deals I'm gonna get this kit. But I just needed to know how you tune the drums and how easy it is to tell what drums go with what kit.
@ZandrielGrimm8 жыл бұрын
Also, I'm planning on adding some cymbals to it. How will I expand the size of the rack to allow these other cymbals?
@chrishalverson52228 жыл бұрын
Well you could either look for a rack on ebay, etc or just use boom stands I actually had two alesis dm10 and dm6 so i just moved my 6 next too it as you see in most my covers but I was thinking about your first question if you still can't find that perfect tone perhaps try double layering the pads and see if you can find a combo that fits what your looking for plus with the tweaking of the semitone with both and all the different sounds you really have unlimited ways to make a single pad sound. I hope this helps but I personally would do some research between stands and additional rack and just make the best decision that suits your liking.

Thanks for the how to change stuff, but you glossed over how to properly save things and why. Dont get me wrong bro, you're very informative. But all that info is useless if we cant store things correctly. Theres instrument and Drum Kit and a little bit of specificity would be OUTSTANDING! No kiddin and I dont mean to be mean, but it's like listening to a stoned Ben Stein for almost 20 minutes, then realizing I just listened to Ben Stein for almost 20 minutes and he solved nothing for me.lol Dangit, Ben! I'd have rather just heard you say "Bueller" over and over for 20 minutes. Lol jk but seriously, next time, maybe try outlining your content before you record. That way your video covers exactly what you wanted to get across, before you post it. This isnt like FB, naw mean? No disrespect intended. Just lookin out. Much love and keep up the good work!
