Just got the same one, for the exact same reasons! I had the Akai Mini and it was just too small to play things into the daw. Lot's of people hate the keys, but to me they are a major upgrade from the Akai mini, and didn't want to spend 500 bucks on a M-Audio Hammer or something like that.

I got myself one of these not too long ago, and although it didn't come with the software it said it would, I still like the keyboard itself a lot. It's my first MIDI too.

There was no instructions in the box on how to download? Did you try going to the Alesis website and seeing if there's any way to contact them for downloads?

@@ronanconroy5282 I also bought it, and at Alesis website, there is no link to download the software. I wrote to support but no reply yet. Edit: I found out that you MUST register the product in their website in order to download a software manager, and then, from this program, you can download the editor. Again, how to make tings complicated when they should be simple.

If you hvae a macbook garageband is prob going to be your best bet, as it's free. If you have a windows, I'm not so sure what options there is, then you might have to buy a software, but I'm sure there's plenty of free available.

I just got the Alesis Q88 MKII controller...Because I was convinced that the installation was as straightforward as it is with the Q 25... But I see that it doesn't sound..And it is necessary to waste time registering.Maybe they don't know that not all of us have a fast web connection....Anyway.I registered the product on your site...But everything is blocked because they force us downloading all those programs...After 3 hours..I still can't use my controllers....Let me tell you something "This way of doing things is not smart"...Now could you please tell me How should I proceed to use my controller..? I can't understand what I have to do...The indication in your manual is useless..Because it refers to the peripherals menu of my music program...But in my Cubase there is a list of controllers and synthesizers. very partial.. and the Q88 is not present... But then, why does the alesis Q25 work directly... and the Q 88 doesn't ?

Sorry you were having trouble. Unfortunately I only have the V61 and I'm not familiar with other keyboards or other Alesis models. You'd need to contact Alesis themselves.

It comes with its own software (Alesis v61 editor) and downloads for Ableton Live Lite 9 and Xpand!2 by AIR Music Tech, though I use Garageband a lot.

I’m using GarageBand early in the video but also Ableton Live Lite later in the video (around 5 mins in). Ableton Live Lite comes free with the keyboard

I went from a regular keyboard to this 1 and it’s taking me a while to adapt since the keys are heavy . I’m use to jus pressing them the keys fall. I have to slam these it feel like

I'm not sure there's any official support for Garageband on Windows. The only things I've seen online seem dodgy and unsafe - possibly with malware or phishing. There're a few KZbin videos out there that say absolutely don't trust them. \ I'd say try another DAW instead.

This is only a midi controller, so it needs a device to plug into in order to work.
