Faz 20 anos que ouvi essa música pela primeira vez. E não há uma vez que eu a escute e não me emocione. Seja qual versão for.
Diferente do que parece, esta não é uma canção de amor de um homem para uma mulher, mas de um pai para sua filha.
If tomorrow never comes
Garth Brooks/ Kent Blazy
Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She's lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way I feel
About her in my heart
If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way
To show her every day
That she's my only one
If my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes
'Cause I've lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there's no second chance
To tell her how I feel
If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way
To show her every day
That she's my only one
If my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes
So tell that someone that you love
Just what you're thinking of
If tomorrow never comes

As my precious husband fought lung cancer with all his strength this song made all the difference to us .My husband was a quiet man but began sharing his feelings more freely and I would find him watching me and the children smiling... Oh God how I miss him . Our two favorite songs .we're the Dance and If tomarrow never comes. I still feel that they were for us . No one could have done those songs better than Garth .I thank the writer and Garth for the blessing of those songs. May God Bless both of you.

So many comments from people who have lost spouses and siblings. When I hear this song, I always think of my true soul mate and the fact that we never were married. We each had our own lives, but we never forgot each other. He would call me every year on my birthday and to say how much he still loved me. He did not call on my birthday in November 2023, and I knew he was gone. It is a very hollow feeling to know that he is not here.

I want to say to everyone how this song is powerful. I lost my sister couple years ago. She was such wonderful person. Humble and kind would best describe her. I was 74 and she 69. All ours lives, I was always play ball or something. Her last days were in hospital, no hope of her coming home. One day after visiting her, as I said to her "I love you," her mouth fell open in shock. She looks at her son, back at me . Tons of love came pouring back to me. "I love you too" Broke my heart realizing all our lives I never told her that. My sister passed that night . " If tomorrow never comes"

My late husband said he wanted me to know how much he loved me and this song resonates deeply. Doctor told me he had approximately 6 months left. Hospice was called in , but damn, he died 6 days later. Those last few days are priceless. Dont take time for granted. God took him in his own time. After the shock of that, ive learned to come to terms with my husband may have had hell on earth had he lived any longer. Yes. I was mad, hurt, shocked and devastated. But im glad if he avoided prolonged agony. I hope this message 8m trying to convey helps 9thers if need be. It sucks, but its honest.❤

@chelamcguire
@chelamcguire 2 жыл бұрын
Oh my darling, you must be feeling so low, lost and vulnerable just now. Losing your loved one is such hellish pain. I lost my husband on February 10th 2012 - that's why I'm responding as the date jumped out at me. My husband was home nursed by myself and passed away peacefully at 18.30 hours. Just him and I together and what we both prayed for. We listened to beautiful music right to the end and Van Morrison and Willie Nelson were his favourites. Tonight I was feeling melancholy so was playing some of our old favourites before heading off to bed. It's always great to be able to turn to music to help ease our troubles or soothe us in some way. All we need do is close our eyes and our 'yesterday's' come back to us with tears and sometimes smiles. Richard was all I had and as he was born and raised in Northern Ireland, plus from a very large family, I had a service here in Scotland and 5 days later, a service and burial in Northern Ireland. So, in short, I took him 'home'. Ten years have passed sine I lost Richard and I honestly cannot see where the years went - they just passed by. I was 51 when Richard died and hadn't lost anyone close as both my parents were alive. I'd no one close to show me how to be a widow - I'm sure you know what I mean. However, I plodded on and got through everything somehow though it's not been easy. I still feel lonely and i suppose it's the price widow's pay, sadly. I wish I could say that there is sunshine just around the corner but that would be a lie - all I can offer you by way of advice is what a beautiful, elderly nun advised me to do, and it was simply this. She said, "You've got to keep on living until you feel alive once more." Wise words indeed. Well my darling, I wish you all that you wish for yourself. Keep your chin up and never forget this - no one can take away your memories. God Bless. (Remembering Richard. 13/3/53 - 10/2/12).

@Chela McGuire Thank you for your kind words. I've known my husband for 50 years as kids and married for 41 years. We were each other's soul mates for sure, and it has left me in disbelief over his death. My daughters and I had to decide to take him off life support because there was nothing else the doctors could do. Very heartbreaking to make the decision, but we all knew he didn't want to live like that, there's no quality of life being in that state. And yes, no one tells you how you go on. I still mourn my father's death since 1985, but a father's love is different from a husband's death. Bless you sweetheart from across the pond in TEXAS USA.
