Alex has always been open and honest. Best thing that happened to him was leaving Redbull and being allowed to find himself and his real potential. Redbull is the Max show now, and for good reason, they have the car + driver + team combo perfectly balanced. Any other driver in that team is going to struggle unless you find one that has the same unique skills as Alex mentioned about Max in this clip.
@daarom347210 ай бұрын
kinda harsh how people slammed him. These same people are now doing the same to Checo while cheering for Alex. Sometimes you have an extreme talent coming along that makes other worldclass talent look second rate. I think red bull are special because like alex tryed to say they arnt "unfair" they look at the beginning of a year how is performing better and adapting the car to the driver, thats what we saw back in Seb and Webber times and how they literally throw Seb under the Bus when Ric had a better start to the season in 2015. I think this also shows how mentally strong Perez is, considering he faced serious performance issues mid-season but managed to turn it around. It's pretty clear that Red Bull has also learned how to better support a driver who suddenly seems to lose his edge. Albon isn't the only driver who needed to escape the toxic environment we often see in F1. Even Ricciardo took some time off to rediscover himself. Albon and Gasly were probably promoted to Red Bull too soon; they weren't ready for the immense pressure that comes with driving for a top team. When you're in a team like AlphaTauri, getting a good result every five races earns you rave reviews. But have one bad race in a top team, and you're practically burned at the stake. Verstappen is undoubtedly a fantastic driver, but he was also fortunate that in his first race for Red Bull, the two Mercedes drivers took each other out, allowing him to win. That kind of victory gives a massive ego boost, which certainly helps when dealing with negative criticism after a poor performance. On the other hand, Red Bull seems to genuinely care for their former drivers. When Vettel was let go by Ferrari, Red Bull was quick to reach out and offer assistance. They even threw him a retirement party. They helped Albon find a seat in a different competition, made him a test driver, and eventually helped him secure a spot with Williams. When Ricciardo lost his seat at McLaren, they gave him a role as a test driver for Red Bull. They also put him back in an F1 car when De Vries wasn't performing well.

not true, no one gets one race. They look at all the data. And max is just exceptional, the best to ever do it. And they give drivers a range to be behind him lets say 0.4 and you go over that limit several times, youre out.

The narrative around Verstappen, especially when in comes to the way his contemporaries are describing him, is beginning to remind me of Michael Jordan. From 1986 onward everyone in basketball realized that MJ was just “different.” And that he would eventually come to dominate everything. I think the F1 grid is coming to this realization about Verstappen. His upbringing combined with his inate ability has rendered everyone to chasing second place. I believe Hamilton knew it earlier than most, and it so rattled him that he’s made an ass of himself for the past few years.

But if it is setup then as a 2nd driver you can keep your own setup right? You don’t have to have the same sharp setup as Max. I think 2nd drivers try to do what Max does only he is on another level. Same with video games like Alex said. Some players I play against are insane with movement playing on max movement setting. You get dizzy when even watching their videos. But going back to these sharp settings I think the 2nd drivers try to get there to be able to keep up with Max instead of using the setup they are comfortable with.
@rientsdijkstra4266 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can change it with setup, but only so much..., it is also the design of the car.
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines Жыл бұрын
If you don’t go with the sharp setup the car simply won’t be as fast. I love Alex’s honesty and him likening it to controller sensitivity is very relatable to many gamers. I think the best thing Alex could have done at the time was to tell the media Max was a freak to take some of the pressure off himself.
@TechnoidProduction Жыл бұрын
A lot of the car development during the year is done using driver feedback, with Max wanting a sharper front end and showing that he's able to extract more pace with it, the Red Bull engineers would lean towards that feedback for future upgrades. At the end of the day, the team will try their best to make the fastest car they can.
@amintoodeep Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the car is quickest as a sharper car so to set it up otherwise means you are going to be driving a slower car. That's something CH even explained. It's not building it for Max necessarily, just that if you want a quick car, ita going to be sharp.
@thanekrios3211 Жыл бұрын
@@amintoodeep Not necessarily, it depends on the driver's driving style. Alonso for example relied on forced understeer and a planted rear end for his two titles. The Renault was anything but 'sharp' but although he (Alonso) lost speed on corner entries due to this, he more that made up for it on corner exit speed. The problem for Albon was the rear being unstable, which he was unable to adapt to. Vettel was the same. Absolutely lightening quick when the rear was planted, spinning like a top with anything less.

@zzrr933 Жыл бұрын
Max is adaptive and can drive a car with front end sharp af where as his team mates just spin if they try to match his set up. And if they drive with with their preferred set up with less front end the lose time in corners and alas end up behind max. For eg in motogp if you have a bike that's as fast as other bikes in straights, breaking and acceleration but yours corners much better and tighter, you can enter and exit a corner much faster. That's what max can do with his very sharp front end. The issue is if people copy his set up, they just can't drive it on the edge and either spin or are no longer driving subconsciously and have to think about every action which again makes them slower

I had an RC racing teammate/buddy who was super super fast and he set up his car SUPER direct and just like Alex when I drove his car I had to consectrate so hard to drive that thing that I make uncharacteristic mistakes, but when you put together a good lap, it's balistic. Luckily I can set up the car the way I need which is numb down the steering speed and the car balance is neutral and easy to driver so I can just go out there, turn my brain off and drive the hell out of my car.

Having never driven an F1 car I have no idea what they're like but having raced high downforce RC circuit cars (8th scale on road) against a team mate who used to like a razor sharp car, who also just got faster and faster the more front end he had, it was devastating. I had to switch teams and find a setup that worked for me and I went about 0.2 a lap faster consistently. Dangerous trap to fall into.

I've tried telling people for years.... driver's style makes the difference on the type of cars they drive. Gasley, Albon, and Perez all have a smoother style of driving, where as Max has a aggressive style. So if the car balance is on more of an oversteer front end... People who are use to the balance to be more understeer will struggle to keep up with him. Right now Alonso and Riccardo are 2 drivers that like an aggressive front end, so they will be able to keep up (at least 2nd) to Max. If u listen to Lewis talking about the W13 and 14... it's more aggressive in the front than it's previous predecessors. He likes the car to be more centered and not front heavy. So people saying "put both Lewis and Max in the same car" don't know about race craft. If Lewis drove for RBR... he'll lose to Max majority of the time, and vice versa...if u put Max in the Merc, he'll lose time against Lewis because the car isn't loose enough... regardless of performance.

@FrancisFjordCupola11 ай бұрын
Thing is, it's not uncontrollable... for Max. Just look at his steering. Realize what people like Albon say about sensitivity and then notice how little adjustments Max makes. He wants more sensitivity so he can approach corners even more precise.
