Yeah its honestly very heartwarming! When I first became a United fan, his name was constantly used as a joke or punchline online a lot, so I just generally assumed he sucked and Fergie really botched that signing. Like Alfie said, not like he lit it up whatsoever, but to have gone from where he was, to a legitimate professional footballer in respectable leagues is absolutely wonderful. The fact that he has a big heart to go back to his orphanage and pay it forward to many kids like him is just the cherry on top. So very happy for Bebe.

In my opinion, and don't grill me for this, I think that Sir Alex Ferguson is partly responsible for Manchester United's decline. I'm a Manchester United fan by the way. He started signing average players and below average players in the last few years of his tenure at the club. This was coupled by his successors following suit by doing the same thing in the years that followed. The 2011 UCL final is a good example. We had no depth in that squad and we were out of our depth (pun intended) going into that match thinking we could have taken the game to Barcelona. The only quality players were Rooney and Carrick, to name a few. The others were out of their prime. The tactics also blew us out of the water. I would have parked the bus or played the Catenaccio. Fergie is the all-time greatest because he'd managed to win the league title twice with such an average squad. Had we been serious in the transfer windows post 2010 or 2011, we would have been as big a threat as Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool (2018 through to 2020). I have confidence in OGS (sometimes wavering at that) but I don't think we'll ever be on par with other titanic teams in the medim-term. He's not a long-term solution. However, I know that he's capable of doing wonderful things at that club. We'll never sign proper players if we don't win one or two trophies, even with the limited resources (players) we have available. No top manager in the world is capable of helping Manchester United. A motivated Ole Gunnar Solskjær is a dangerous Ole Gunnar Solskjær, and he could be a monster manager and a threat both at home and abroad. I don't think he knows just how how good he actually is. Though Mourinho was in a bad space while at the helm, I believed him when he had said that finishing 2nd in the 2017/18 season with that team was his greatest achievement. A better board would also have been another solution. There's a lot going on at that club and I wish for everyone involved, executives and the coaching staff, to take more accountability and responsibility. With regard to the youth, it seems that the only thing to do is to send them out on loan. They're not good or ready enough to play at this level of the game.
@Kofi_Mensahs_BurnerAccount3 жыл бұрын
@@faztudo6286 you can thank the Glazers for a lot of the downfall. Sir Alex always used to make a couple of signings every summer to keep the squad on its toes but the Glazers financially starved Sir Alex. Essentially Fergie had to come out and say 'there's no value in the market' but the truth was they wouldn't cough up the cash for World class players. Sir Alex could see the squad in 2012-2013 whilst experienced in winning titles, were getting old and in their twilight. There was no way they'd give him the cash to rebuild the whole team and the academy hadn't produced anything world class or functional at that moment since Darren Fletcher in 2002/2003. Jose was given a fair bit of money but he blew it on nonsense like Matic and Lukaku and the waste that was Sanchez. Van Gaal blew money on Di Maria, Schnedelin and arguably the worst loan in United in Falcao. Since LVG and Jose, the Glazers have decided that United will not have £70m+ net spend ever.
@faztudo62863 жыл бұрын
@@Kofi_Mensahs_BurnerAccount You're right. The Glazers have ruined everything and the sad fact is that they don't know what they are doing. They should just relinquish ownership of the club and sell it to better business-minded people. Mourinho's signings, Lukaku in particular, didn't make sense. He didn't fit well in that team. The man's a proper player but the men who played behind him were abysmal. Alexis Sanchez was already out of his prime. Mourinho had no business signing Sanchez and Matić. The problem with Jose is that he's a managerial risk. No good player will want anything to do with him. So, Sanchez and Matić were is only hope at restoration. LvG was already finished when he had come to United. Di María would have been so good as a United player under a better manager that season. It just doesn't matter how much money can be thrown at the club unless we can get sensible owners and executives.

I though Diouf was a decent signing considering his goal scoring record at the time, to be honest. I mean, it didn't work out in the end, but that's how it is sometimes with football. Rather, I found David Bellion from Sunderland to be far stranger, considering how poor he guy was at Sunderland, and overall, a very poor striker.

As a Turkish League follower I can say that Diouf is doing well here with Hatayspor and he is working under such a great manager. Hatayspor is a newbie here in first division but probably stay here and enjoy the league. For Obertan side, he still has that skill and class. However Erzurum is a typical relegating team in our league. Obertan can probably go to another first div team end of the season.

Roy Carroll is a cult hero for Olympiacos's fans here in Greece. He joined OFI Crete without any expectations and after six months during which he was one the best goalkeepers in the league, Olympiacos snapped as a second choice experienced keeper. Before long though he was called in action. His first appearance was against Rubin Kazan in Moscow in the first match for the round of 32, in the Europa League, coming on as a late substitute after Balázs Megyeri conceded a penalty and was given a red card. Carroll saved the penalty with the first touch of his Olympiacos career and his team went on to win 0-1. In the return leg, Carroll put in a performance considered legendary by the fans, after producing a string of saves in whilst carrying a visible hamstring injury. His named was singed by the fans throughout the match as he was visibly in pain but kept on playing nevertheless. He stayed two seasons at Piraeus, winning the Greek league once and returning in the Champions League almost eight years after his United times. According to him, his time in Greece and his return to high level football helped him fight against alcoholism.

A bit harsh on Possebon I would say. Signed at the age of 18 with huge potential, but that injury against Boro had a massive influence on his carreer. That doesn't make him a strange signing... I would have chosen Manucho, Dong Fangzhou or David Bellion instead of him...

Hey alfie, i dont know if you will see this but I’d love to see you make a video on africa’s ‘right to dream’ academy and their heavy connections to Manchester City and FC Nordsjælland. Nordsjælland (Danish team) have dozens of Ghanaians in theor team because of it including hot property Muhammad Kudus who recently signed for Ajax. Manchester City also have some current and former right to dream players in their academy including Godsway Donyoh (who is now at Nordsjælland), Collins Tanor, Razak Nuhu, Nana Boateng, Thomas Agyepong, Divine Naah, Yaw Yeboah, Ernest Agyiri, Evans Mensah, Enock Kwakwa, Dominic Oduro and so many more. You many not know many, if not any but that’s not the point the point is Man City’s and Nordsjælland’s involvement in the right to dream academy and I believe City have had some sort of legal controversy with this whole right to dream and Nordsjælland stuff. Would love to see a video made on this personally as I find it really interesting.
