The award ceremony for this film is soooo fucked up and cringe, i implore anyone to go watch it, all the credit somehow goes to women and minorities and marginalized blah blah blah and the guy jimmy and this girl hold the award and basically make it all about themselves while Alex stands off to the side and let’s it all happen.. super bizarre

She made 2 comments about women and people of color… it takes that little to trigger you? Might wanna look deeper at that… At the end of the day it’s the Oscars. It’s about the film itself and the people who put it together. She did thank Alex, but I found her comment about the film being “boring” without Alex’s girlfriend a little condescending/tone deaf.

@@goodie2shoez793 yea it’s enough what if Alex was a black guy and some Asian lady got up on stage and started talking about all the amazing white people that deserve recognition! Sorry you don’t understand but yea that’s enough.. it’s a white guy he climbs up a rock and it’s amazing and they make a film about it.. it’s the award ceremony.. why are we talking about women and minorities? Why is that something she felt she needed to bring up? Again, the film is about a white guy climbing up a rock, can’t he have his moment? No, cause he’s a white guy. You know full well they wouldn’t have said anything positive about white people on stage at the award show if it was a black guy that climbed the rock.

@@goodie2shoez793 I’m glad you at least see a problem with all of it, I last watched it like a year ago so I don’t remember her saying that but that’s wild! It’s funny we both pick up on different things, I see many issues but perhaps I’m watching from a different perspective. Either way I think Alex should have played a more central role in the acceptance, I understand he didn’t film it and he didn’t edit it.. but he IS the film and you could argue he’s the choreographer and co-director. Alex decided the rock face, Alex decided the route, Alex decided all the motions, Alex decided when it was happening.. the other guys just pointed a camera at him and edited on their laptop, really those people taking all the credit are better described as cameramen and editors, and bad editors at that real climbers want to see the historic footage but this jimmy guy has it all stored on his laptop or something and he won’t share it

Not to hate on Chai or anything, but i think of all people her husband Jimmy Chin who did the dangerous climbing, carrying all those heavy equipment and filming the whole process should be the one given the most credit. But instead she spent way too much time talking about some irrelevant stuff. Honestly, as a producer, she should acknowledge her crew in a more significant way.
