Analog Kid is one of my favorite Rush songs and people never seem to get it. It's such a great encapsulation of the feeling of being a kid, with hopes and dreams barely bubbling to the surface. Excellent song, and the guitar work is rowdy and, as usual, top-notch. Favorite solo is YYZ. I've never heard anything quite like it in 40 years of playing guitar.

There is a paradigm shift in Alex’s solo playing from the album Permanent Waves to oh, let’s say Grace Under Pressure. It was during this span of time that he was forging his new style which would come to dominate their records all through the 90’s. His playing became less pentatonic based and more chord based, for lack of a better description. I love all of it, all of his playing but my most favorite is probably this transitionary period starting with Farewell to Kings and ending with Signals.
