We also all know he beat Jan in that decision, I’m not saying he shouldn’t fight contenders in order to get a title shot, I’m tryna say that no one else is more deserving than him.

He should fight Ankalaev. But from the UFCs perspective, the risk-reward proposition on giving their biggest star an opponent that can wrestle like Ankalaev can makes it tempting to look elsewhere unless it’s absolutely unavoidable, in a way Belal became unavoidable or how Leon was before him. From their perspective, they’ll look for reasons to say no to Ankalaev and use Pereira as a cash cow to setup a trilogy fight with Izzy or even somehow justify another Jan fight (since that was close) or Hill (since there’s a storyline there, even though nobody thinks Hill deserves it). The Izzy fight is big money at 205, and Jan/Hill will make just as much money for the UFC as an Ankalaev fight would, whether they deserve it or not, and much less risk too.

Alex aint ducking he has fought 2 tough opponents both on short notice that ankalaev likely turned down. And now he probably wants a break or dana wants him too wait to see if he can set up the adesanya trilogy. Alex deserves a break and if ankalaev accepted the abu dhabi card thats on him not Alex ducking. Alex has also never said he wouldnt fight ankalaev but even if he doesnt fight Ankalaev fighting Jones or aspinall aint a duck . The only way you could say perreira is ducking is if his next fight is another LHW other than ankalaev if ankalaev beats rakic.

@@theoharvey5436 Izzy won’t move up to 205 to fight Alex, And Ankalaev had to accept the Abu Dhabi card bc when he was offered the fight on 300 it was Ramadan which means he was fasting sunrise to sunset. If he moves up to HW to fight Jones or Aspinall or even goes to boxing like he said he wants to try than it’s a duck bc the UFC wouldn’t offer him any other fight than Ankalaev bc he alr fought Jan, Hill, and Jiri twice, so their only choice is Ankalaev. @@no_going_back8456 That's an outright lie. He held down Ngannou in practice. He won a ton of world tournament titles in SAMBO(which is basically russian wrestling with mma). He hasn't really needed to use his wrestling in the ufc so far other than a few times to set up his striking. He also easily handled blachowicz on the mat and jan is known for being a decent wrestler.
