Alex Plank speaks to hundreds of parents, educators, and professionals in the University of Alabama's Bryant Conference Center at The 13th Annual Alabama Autism Conference.
The title of his presentation is "On the Wrong Planet - How to Succeed with Autism in a Neurotypical World." Alex Plank discusses how he survived high school and college, created WrongPlanet.net, and began working as an autism consultant on The Bridge for FX. He provides advice on how you can use your autism traits to your advantage in order to create a successful career.
According to The University of Alabama, "The 13th Annual Alabama Autism Conference, "Practical Applications for Autism Interventions: Implementation in the Home, School, and Community," will highlight realistic techniques to implement autism interventions in community environments. Every child deserves accessibility to the best treatments available. Therefore, the overarching aim of our theme this year is to bridge the gap between important research findings and implementation in every community. The conference will be beneficial to regular education and special education teachers, speech
pathologists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, para-professionals,
vocational rehabilitation therapists, researchers, families and others who provide
direct services to children with ASD and their caregivers."
Alex speaks about his life, the creation of WrongPlanet.net, and his role as a consultant and actor on FX's hit television series, The Bridge, which stars Diane Kruger who plays an autistic detective.
