“It was so hard I wanted to die.” That statement coming from, one of the best and most consistent drummers on KZbin sums up the level of composition this band had. It’s so insane to me that this material was and is SO influential to almost ALL technical metal without ever trying to be. And a lot of that came out of a 16 year old Suicmez. Congrats for pulling this off man. Your musical work ethic is CONSTANTLY inspiring to me and I appreciate the HOURS OF LIFE you have invested into your craft. It’s a shining example to us all.

I had learned to play only 2 of his songs, Stillborn One and Only Ashes Remain. Both off Epitaph. I also got hang out with Hannes after his show with Obscura , at El Corazon, Seattle cant remember the headliner, was it Wintersun?!?! We grabbed a table in the bar with my gf and each had a few beers, I told him I can play Stillborn One fluently and I am working on Only Ashe remains. He told me good choice and explained the double bass pattern for the pre chorus in Stillborn. He tapped on our bar table to show me the hand pattern. I already knew the song and had learned all the patterns, but sitting with Hannes..........I stfu and listened. Brilliant drummer that is my #1 favorite. I felt he was my friend when we said goodbye, cool guy. Double baste fast, then do chops on the snare. Meat.

What blows me away is how easy Necrophagist made it look live. You had a drummer who could blast like this consistently for a 45 minute plus set. What I love about this video is that you get to witness the insane technicality of the song, specifically everything the drums do in it. You can tell how much this drummer struggles to stay with it, but he rocks it on spot on. Like all other Necrophagist fans, I wish they'd release more / new material, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. So I'll just keep repeating their two releases hah. I'm always on the lookout for more tech death metal, but there won't be anyone like these guys. I'm glad there are many fans of the band. I stumbled across them by accident. I play them to my friends who appreciate music technicality. Though none of them like the vocals, they're always blown away by the music itself.
