Pre-teens are immune to it. Besides, young kids today are exposed to it, so it does not even surprise them. Also they are shy and afraid. Lastly, Young Indian kids are taught to consider beauty to be an inferiority, and their own culture to be superior to western culture, especially academically strong ones from upper middle class families like him.

I played chess in coaching environment from 7 to 11. I was careless and never bothered to think the way my coach was trying to teach me. Obvisouly I was not very good but I win some and loose some in competitions. I quit as a lost to a 6 year old ( when I was 11 ) in the tournament m. the kid was not a genius played well as a 6 year old. but I played poorly. I basically threw the last game away due to mistakes giving away my queen. My parents ( watched the whole thing ) beat the shit out of me on the spot and made me walk home from the tournament venue ( 15 minutes walk ) . From that point I started to hate playing and quit very quickly .

Anymore I don't care but I used to say that the least desirable person I can play is the kid. The reason is simple; I work in a warehouse, I get up at 4:50 AM, and my breakfast is typically a muffin with a cup of coffee. The kid is used to getting nine hours of sleep and eating cereal in the morning so he can do well in school. As a consequence, the kid is usually a little more awake than I am. So I sit at my board, waiting for my opponent and an eight year old kid shows up. I end up thinking "why me?".
