Alexander's Chimney Alpine Climb

Alexander's Chimney (WI4/M4ish), Longs Peak
May 4th, 2024
A fun alpine romp with 2 great friends, Nick Wright and Jesse Villines.
Some recent snow made for some slow and effortful climbing, and made it a tad more exciting.
We wanted to continue from Broadway to climb/ski the Notch Couloir, but some snow movement on the East face of Longs Peak sent us down after reaching Broadway. A decision we were all happy to make :)

Not using screwgates on a belay?

Not on the two pieces connecting to protection, but I do use a locker on the master point. When there's two or more "legs" of the anchor, its generally ok to not use lockers since there's multiple. It's obviously better to use lockers on everything, but its generally standard practice to only use lockers where there's a single point of failure, like a master point or for your belay device, etc.

Sometimes haha Usually they come out just as easy as a tool in ice
