Lionheart, one of the first traits you should always get for your generals is the "Skilled Tactician"; this allows you access to the Night Attack option when initiating a battle, and is an absolute game-changer when taking on multiple stacks trying to reinforce each other. Also, when dealing with settlements that are not of your culture (Hellenic), the best option is almost always to raze the settlement. You're going to have to replace their buildings anyway, and it actually grants a +30 bonus to public order.

@@harry3balls yeah i played also like 1,5 years but then i started reading every detail on character page ,family tree units details ,i can now play legendary ez but back then struggled even with normal.I started with rome 1 but now i play attila only. Attila has nice mod to make it like rome 2 but with attilas graphics and ui, its ancient empires mod.

Just a quick pointer for DeI, your troops stopped replenishing because of a severe winter, you can keep an eye on droughts, and other stuff like this in the bottom left when you click on a settlement, there are a load of other province stats to help with what economic buildings to go for like livestock vs. arable crops, quite a lot to go through sometimes but worth it-haven't played vanilla in a while so not always sure what is there and what isn't, I strongly recommend looking into baggage trains for armies and supply ships for navies, these will keep you men from attrition (3 turns for armies, 8 for navies), very excited for this series :D

DiddyRadar87 his playstle had many flaws tho especially when using ranged units and that spare pikewall could have been used as a dual layer on the weakened one . Also for Example he should have used the jabs for potshotting through the entrance and bows for arching(even though they are utter shit at it)but other than that he did good

I absolutely love the feature that when you fight in the fortified stance, you're actually in a fort. I wish it carried over to Warhammer, basically my only complaint with that game is that you NEVER fight in smaller encampments/settlements, always on a field or a giant walled city.

Just one thing about your fleet. An admiral is not affected by supplies or sea sickness or whatever they call it. So the best thing is disband your fleet and just use the Admiral to go scouting. You can build up a fleet later when you have the dosh and the supply infrastructure in place.

hey mate, in DEI you gotta always keep your armies and navies in supply by building supply depots in your major cities, grain pits for the minor settlements and supply ships which lower the supply costs of your navies though you still need to resupply in ports too. Supply depots can resupply up to three hexes away and grain pits just in the same hex, its about bullets and beans mate.PS glad you're back doing the historical stuff

Hey Lionheartx10 A few tips I would like to offer, firstly a great upkeep reducing trait I always go for is camp admin, then the one that reduces the cost for hiring non-mercenary unit’s, upgraded fully. roughly -15% recruitment cost and -12% upkeep cost of the army. Just remember to siphon out weaker units to other armies and recruit upgrades in the main army to get the full benefit from the trait. Those cav are might expensive! The garrison numbers are good but their quality isn’t. especially early game, half if not more of the garrison will be varying town militia units, easily dealt with. With the fort defence, I like placing my pikeman where u did but have the barricade just in front so the pikes stick through them. Guaranteed 500+ kills a pop (quality pikes). Something you could try when they attack from one direction is pull ur javs out behind the fort along with your cav if you can. Once the enemy has engaged swing around and hit a side(s) with javs. Let them chase your javs if they want to and u can pick them off by kiting or cav charges. Probably wouldn’t work if they had a decent cav contingent to their force. Loving campaign! So excited for a Rome 2 campaign!

Your phalanx is absolutely fine. I like a couple of lighter sword or axe or rhomphia units in column behind each flank. When general blobbicus piles into your phalanx move these and your light infantry around his flanks into his rear. Once they've unloaded any remaining ammo into the back of the enemy blob you can wrap things up pretty quick with rear charges. Save up and build ports and town centres for the best income.

Ik this is a OLD video but just would like to point out that one of the strongest defending strats is to overlap the hoplites over the Pikeman so the shields block for the pikeman while there spears still are long enough to reach past the shields and stab them from cover than hide your General on cover to inspire and rally your men

generals can add positive happiness if they have the right traits. If your faction leader is a good one, he adds lots of good bonuses to all your cities when he is in the capital. You can see this on the general overview. The screen where you can see your family tree (well yeah family tree, the list of your generals that is :) )

Unless you want to face Rome right away, peace out with Epirus, get as much coin you can off of them and when your army is a bit more replaced, swiftly strike against the Odryssians. After that, try to invade Crete and Rhodes or Sparta if they declare war on you.

hey lionheart for DEI if you have your faction leader inside your capital city of your empire it gives a public happiness bonus to all your territories. Also having a general unit inside a city without any of units also raises the public order locally. If you rewatch your vid, you can see the public order for the second city go up as well from -8 to -5 when you placed your faction leader in Pella

Macedon is MUCH harder on the latest update of DEI. You can still blitz through Epirus, Athens and Sparta; but once you have the peninsula under your control, everyone seems to declare war on you. I played several times on 'hard' mode and met with the same grim fate. I had to loot settlements in order to acquire the capital to replace slowly replenishing units with fresh ones (keep up momentum and pushing advantage). By the time I'd united the Macedonia and Hellas provinces, I was unable to invest my spoils into my economy due to Rome, Ardiaei, the Seleucids, Egypt, Rhodes and all the Thracians declaring war and swamping me. Seriously, 3 full-stacked Roman armies attacked via Apollonia, 1 full Lydian Army via the Hellespont, 2 Thracian armies descended on Pella, and a small Rhodian navy escorting a full land army stormed my southern flank in the Peloponnese. My economy could only support one full army of hoplites, shock cavalry and Cretan archers, so I desperately tried to sack/loot border settlements belonging to barbarians in order to prevent myself from going bankrupt. Then, once I had defeated about 5 full invading armies in multiple directions, they cunningly resorted to raiding my lands on the borders, thus seizing all my food and eliminating my supply lines. I gave up. Anyone else experienced this?

I suppose the powerplay of every campaign is different then, as Rome declared war on me even though they apparently loved me after getting rid of Epirus. Since I made this message, I was able to finally have a situation where Rome didn't declare war, which made mopping up Hellas and then Thrace quite easy

It's generally advised that you don't make Client States, because you cannot get units from them, as the reform scripts preventing out of "era" units to be made get bypassed by the "Levy troops".

Because the game is ballanced that way and any other battle difficulties (not campaign) will result in unfair advantages for the enemy. You can play at very hard but just change the battle option to narmal once you start the GC.

This mod is the best thing to ever happen to Rome 2. But the newer version should be out before end of the year, that uses the Augustus campaign map for the Grand campaign.

Not sure if someone else has commented to you about this, but I noticed you were on very hard i think it was somewhere in the game that it said that DEI is meant to be played on normal otherwise it will mess somethings up, like how the economy function within the mod. not sure if im remembering correctly or if i just misread something some where, but thought i would give you a heads up.

Just had a look on the FAQ it suggest normal for new players to the mod, Hard for those that want a challenge so I guess with very hard I really want a challenge haha. No info about it messing up balance or economics though so should be fine.
