I am a heavy Apple Notes user. I was previously using Obsidian, which I loved, but it was way too slow on mobile (and I do a lot of notetaking on mobile). I was already using Apple notes for most personal and family things, but decided to see if I could also integrate my work into Apple Notes. Started doing this a few months ago and haven't looked back. The linking works great, Apple Notes is super fast on all my devices (something I really struggled with using Obsidian), and I even implemented a daily notes feature using Apple Shortcuts. Combined with the Action Button on my iPhone 15, this whole set up is so much faster than Obsidian. I do dislike that there's no simple way to get my notes out of Apple Notes (within all my images and embeds), but the system works incredibly well overall.

I am switching now. Obsidian is not good on mobile.

@@mollusk_musk2467 yeah Obsidian is certainly functional on mobile but it doesn’t work well. It’s very clunky and not fast. One tip - I use the Taio app to convert files from MD to RTF. If you pay for it (just $11 for the year) it will convert and automatically copy note content to your clipboard for pasting into an Apple note. Super helpful for moving things over.

Do you know if Apple Notes would work lightning fast with 20-30 GB worth of data stored in it? That’s approximately how much data that I would be transferring over to Apple Notes.

I just discovered that you can link KZbin videos to notes as well. I use notes for everything! If I’m in school writing actual notes, grocery shopping, planning for something. It’s so helpful I love it. Thanks for the video.

I have been a big Notes user for years The problem now is the search is glitch as hell… sometimes it works and sometimes nothing, which is becoming more frequently. So how do we get the search function working again?

Very well covered! Definitely a great tool when used correctly. However, I still prefer Obsidian when writing more complex notes on my Mac, especially when linking them or referencing to connect ideas. It also has a plugin for Vim motions and commands (if you want to go down that rabbit hole, LOL), which makes note-taking and editing so much faster once you get familiar with it. I generally use Notes on the phone and elaborate on them using Obsidian on Mac when I know I might use them for further context. Yes, it takes extra effort, but it also helps me distinguish between notes I need and those that are just mind dumps/quick reflections for short-term use.

That is so awesome! Thanks for all the great tips. This really helps a lot. That scan text feature is amazing and there's so much more hiding under the hood. OMG! Totally going to be using Notes app a ton more now.

Have you moved items from Evernote back into Apple Notes? If so, can you make a video about that? TIA

Please add a TOC. I am collecting KZbin video information so I can use tags then create smart folders from which I can study the new Apple Ecosystem. Thanks.

I use apple notes for a year now. Recently i noticed issues with shutting down the app during work. I have many scan documents on it and sometimes they are 200pages long. Can it be the reason of uncontrolled shutting down ?

I like Apple Notes but I use Apple and Microsoft products. I can't copy info from Microsoft applications like Word or 123 and bring into Notes. Would you have any comments on merging or copying? I would really like to use both products.

Hey Dr, do you need a shorts scriptwriter?
@terry.stafford10 ай бұрын
I use Apple Notes but it still falls short with its inability to let you easily write on documents. Goodnotes is unencumbered in that regard. You simply import a document (pdf, docx, etc) and write on it.

what if the person is broke and an android user ? does google keep stand a chance ?
@andricheli Жыл бұрын
Google always makes me a bit leery because there have been a number of products they have very suddenly just killed off. Apple Notes has been around since the birth of the iPhone and has remained a consistently popular and supported app. If you're an Android user, I'd recommend taking a look at something like Obsidian, where you can own your files/notes. Even as a die-hard Apple person, I am leery about Apple Notes because of how hard it is to get information out of Notes.
