I’ve loved this song my whole life. But I found myself listening to it often, seemingly constantly when I lost my sister. Some are luckier than others, but we’ll all eventually experience a loss we don’t expect, or maybe even one that we do. This song somehow helped me. And I hope it does you and others.

I would describe my late mother as probably the best in the world but lost her about 3 years but I celebrate her life rather than mourn her death so please think about the great times you had together. It is only the body which is gone but her soul lives on. May the great God ease your pain.
@carcosa_tyrant94445 ай бұрын
it wasn't up to 'god' since no god exists. the world is cruel and sometimes people die before their time. a merciful god wouldn't allow that, nor would they decide to take someone for no reason. find comfort in the world around you, not in fairytales and makebelieve. make the world a better place for yourself now and for those around you. simple as that. god never did anything for you, so stop praying to a lie.

@@ianmostowy4582 It makes no difference as to the color of the singers' skin when I interpret this version of the song as soulful because this song was meant to be sung soulfully. He is superb!! But sometimes I don't think people understand why he is so good. He has beautiful tall vowels or nicely rounded ones when needed. He doesn't hang out on the consenants like so many pop singers do. He makes vowels king. So it's pure and beautiful and able to be understood words wise. I watch his face stretch in all the appropriate manners like every choir instructor I have ever had tell me to do. My 90 year old client likes the sound of his voice (Classic crooner meets R%B) but appreciates that he can understand all of John's words. He is perfection. But more than that he is angelic. May his career be long lived!!!

I am so fucking happy I found this. Coverwise, I could only find con artists and people who could't handle the song. This was a true refreshment. A fucking pro at it, idk how else to put it.

I could not hold back my tears in 2016 when a lady started singing this song in the church where I was. It came upon me like a balsam which made stronger to carry on no matter what I was going through.

I remember seeing John Legend for the first time... It was at Slims on 11th St. He said, "a lot of ya'll don't know who I am, do you?" Then he started singing short versions of all these really popular songs, and the crowd started singing along and cheering and then he said, "yeah, I wrote all of them!" What a cool night! I've been a fan ever since.

When you’re weary, feeling small When tears are in your eyes, I’ll dry them all (all) I’m on your side, oh, when times get rough And friends just can’t be found Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down When you’re down and out When you’re on the street When evening falls so hard I will comfort you (ooo) I’ll take your part, oh, when darkness comes And pain is all around Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down Sail on silver girl Sail on by Your time has come to shine All your dreams are on their way See how they shine Oh, if you need a friend I’m sailing right behind Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind

Good God, Sooo powerful. Not ashamed of God given human emotion. God used you to get me through painful times of physical and emotional scars after 2 accidents. He really does speak through people. God bless you John and your family. I hope to meet you guys one day. If not here, maybe in heaven.
