Ladies I just turned 55 last week and I also was this kid. 16, no car and a "best friend who I was desperately in love with. If needed me, I was on my way (in daddy's car) to his house. We would play around and usually ended up making love. He was the ONLY guy who actually made love ❤️ to me. He was gentle and caring and I will always love him for the way he treated me when we were together. But he always went back to the girl he was dating at the time. Until they hurt him. Then he would be calling me and I was on my way to his arms again.

This was me in my early 20's. I dated a bad boy for 2 years. Even after we split up anytime he texted me and said, "come over" I would immediately leave my house and go over there. I did this so many times and for so many years until I finally sat down and thought to myself what am I doing? I'm only hurting myself and I went cold turkey. Stopped responding to him and I was so much happier after I did that. Now I'm in my early 40's and happily married. This song really resonated with me. It should be #1 on the charts! These lyrics have a strong emotional theme and convey a sense of longing and empowerment. The imagery of driving and using music as therapy adds depth to the storytelling. The repetition of certain phrases, like screaming a name at the windshield and unleashing tears on the wheel, creates a powerful and cathartic effect. Overall, the lyrics capture the struggle of trying to move on from a toxic relationship and finding solace in the freedom of the open road.

Backroad Therapy/Lyrics It's 1:08 wide awake when I hear that Special ring stomach sinks 'cause you know I'm already pullin' out the drive I'm up and I'll be there in five I'm turnin' right at a light when it hits me You feed me lies to put your hands on my body I'm helpless in the morning light Knowin' I fell for it a hundred times Finally put my foot down on the gas Speeding past your place on my left I swear it's like a drug when you're holding me But I got the remedy I know exactly what I need I'm gonna scream your name at the windshield Tell the rain how stupid I feel Unleash every tear on the wheel, crank the radio Every old country song about letting go Keeping my eyes on the road and off the rearview My mind between the lines and nowhere near you 'Cause driving this car right back into your arms ain't what's gonna fix me I just need a little backroad therapy It's 2:00 on the dot and you text me "Where you at?" You don't know I'm already Thirty miles out of town And I don't think I'm turnin' around 'Cause Jo Dee's singin' "Bye bye, catch ya later" Keep that lead foot on the accelerator But I still hear your voice echo in my head So I turn it up to ten And drive until I'm over it I'm gonna scream your name at the windshield Tell the rain how stupid I feel Unleash every tear on the wheel, crank the radio Every old country song about letting go Keepin' my eyes on the road and off the rearview My mind between the lines and nowhere near you 'Cause driving this car right back into your arms ain't what's gonna fix me I just need a little backroad therapy I'm not changin' my mind or my direction Let this dashboard hear my confession I'm gonna scream your name at the windshield Tell the rain how stupid I feel Unleash every tear on the wheel, crank the radio Every old country song about letting you go Keepin' my eyes on the road and off the rearview My mind between the lines and nowhere near you Driving this car right back into your arms ain't what's gonna fix me I just need a little backroad therapy (A little backroad, a little backroad) Need a little backroad therapy, yeah (A little backroad, a little backroad therapy) 'Cause I need a little backroad therapy

This is the best song I’ve ever heard. My mom and I always listen to it together. I stumbled across this thinking it was gonna be horrible till I heard your voice and had to send this to my mom! I love ittt!

You are literally my FAVORITE country singer! I have been watching you sing since you were doing old country covers in your yellow kitchen while making iced coffee. I told myself “that girl is going somewhere big” I am obsessed with your music! You are so talented. I love the feel of your songs and how they are the perfect mix of 90’s and new country. Perfectly done!

Alexandra I've been waiting for this ever since you teased the demo. It was definitely worth the wait. I love it. Still can't wait to see you in concert and actually get to meet you. Keep doing what you do. Been here since the Jolene video that went viral on fb. I'll be here supporting you till the end.

After 8 years of domestic violence I am free and this song... Has been my go to and kept me on the path away from him. Thank you for this song and so many more! Can't wait to watch you take over country music 🎶🎶
WOW, I have to say that not only is Alexander Kay beautiful, but her voice is AMAZING, why these recording labels hasn't signed her to a long term contract is beyond me cause they should ASAP
