I don’t understand how America brags so much about “being the richest country in the world” yet goes “What? We don’t have money for that!” when it comes to issues like healthcare and education. My third world country pays for that, you can do it too!

I’m literally losing friends because I lean left and I’m backing Bernie, I really like his message, I have been listening to all sides, spending my off time doing research, hell I use to be a trump supporter not all that long ago, now I feel like I can’t have a conversation without people dipping out just because they may disagree. I am a veteran too, so lots of them are super pro trump but yet I don’t believe they have real good reasons for that. I care about my fellow human beings.

Don't lose faith! I know how frustrating it can be to navigate political conversations with friends and family. Ultimately regardless of political party we all want the same things, so I try to remember that and have empathy for people who are on the other end of the political spectrum. Often they really just don't know or their minds are too inflexible to change (most people basically stop learning/growing after a certain age). So kudos to you for doing research and forming your own opinion!

Thank you for your bravery. I believe Veterans deserve to have their voices heard because you have been places and see things that many Americans only hear about. I also believe that to serve your country is the biggest act of patriotism-you fighting for our country which is full of people who are divided and against each other-don’t feel like it’s been for nothing and that you’re alone. Because you’re not. There are many, many people who want to fight for others too-by voting, by listening to the stories of Americans (such as yourself), by speaking out for others whom we may never meet in other states, and more. In my opinion...Bernie’s campaign is patriotic because he wants to fight for people who do not look like him, for so many who will never meet him or see him in a rally, and he fights for the people whose voices get lost and forgotten.

@@ProudCommie Sanders is a communist. I don't care what HE calls himself, his stances, who he supports and advocates, the policies that he wants to implement, especially the ones he's flip flopped on lately, all communist policies. I don't like Trump, personally. I voted against him in 2016. But he's getting the job done. The improvements he's implemented in the VAMC system that I've personally benefited from are testament to that. If you cared about your fellow man, Sanders is the LAST person you'd be supporting. I don't believe you were a Trump supporter because IF you had been, you'd be even more so now. Just because someone is in your face, doesn't mean they're out to get you or don't know what they're talking about. We all learned that in basic. This is why you're losing friends. This is what you are now promoting.

@@ProudCommie first off, his medicaid for all. This isn't just regulation, this is putting the entire industry under the control of the government. He education programs, the same. They are actually re-education, soviet/cuban style and, again, put the control of the entire industry (read: means of production) under the direct control of the government. There is not one proposal that Sanders has made that the government would not absolutely control and own by proxy. That is communism.

I really don't understand how America thinks of these as extremist views when all she wants is a place where people can live and have a fair shot at life. These seem pretty normal and logical views for any other country. I was shocked to find out how much you people pay for healthcare/ How much you pay for something as basic and necessary as ambulance services. We all go to colleges but people from other countries rarely end up in debts as there are strict regulations against how much institutions can charge for a right as basic as education. The top institutes are government funded and have very minimal fee. We don't go bankrupt if we fall ill. Yes, you America can gloat all you want looking at the advancement of your top 1-5% and talk about your gdp numbers. But what is the point of all of this if at the end of the day you, as a normal citizen of the country is struggling? And the idea that people should work harder if they want better life? The title of a developed country makes sense if your country offers a good standard of life to you and makes you comfortable. I wish there were more young women like her in every country. @Ann Schurman 1) "200 million Americans make less than 20K a year. That's 40% of this country." WRONG! There is 327(give or take) million people in this country. 200 million is actually 61% unless she thinks there is 500 million people in this country. 2) But let's look at that first sentence again, "200 million Americans make less than 20K a year." Accord to 2016 wage statistics, 36% of wage earners make less than 20k a year (That's 59 million people). Again, that's earners, not population. Now 59 million seems high but there are a couple reasons. 27 million Americans only work part time. Then you have 19 million workers are between 16-24. Let's say someone working full time during summer and winter breaks and then part time during school season. These groups typically aren't making over 40k a year. 3) "If corporations paid their fair share. If Warren Buffet paid as much as his secretary paid 15%..." His secretary doesn't pay 15% in taxes she pays 35% in income taxes. Also Warren Buffet pays 20% capital gains tax. 4) Carbon tax to incentives people away from fossil fuels" Carbon tax is only a cash grab and doesn't change consumer behavior at all. In fact France literally had month long riots in November because of a carbon tax. 5) "Just last year we gave the military a 700 billion dollar budget increase. Which they didn’t even ask for!" Militaries budget is only 575 billion. So unless the budget for 2016 was only 75 billion that is also wrong. Plus the military always asks for more money. She is a lying politician and because she is promising free shit you all are falling for it. Might as well just vote Santa Claus in office if you only care about gifts. When Trump lies we jump down his throat. When she lies we make excuses and call the right sexist. Yeah, that makes sense.

Because when one us used to being privileged and using that privilege to exercise power over those who aren't, it feels like something is being stolen from you when the less privileged become equal. Which, in a way is true. Because they lose the ability to exercise unjust power over another human being. Furthermore, "The American Dream" is another culprit. Generations of this country has been sold on the idea that with hard work and perseverance you too can make it big. So those that have sneer down on those that haven't. All the way down the class ladder. Doesn't seem to matter if you earned your resources or had them handed to you either. Just that you have X over Johnny down the road so you're one step closer to "The American Dream" and therefore better than lazy good for nothing Johhny boy. It's a way to keep us divided, disenfranchised, and unable to really organize to effect real change.

The money spent in the military gets returned into the pockets of the members of Congress. I'll give you an example. I was in the Navy for 8 years as an Interior Communications Electrician. The phones, speakers, fire alarms, smoke detectors, flooding sensors, nuts, bolts, screws, we used. All cost 10x as much than it would in the civilian world. One little screw is worth more than $30, a piece of crap phone is worth $248.00. It adds up quickly to millions of dollars when you think of every compartment on every ship needing a phone. One company name is Dynalec. (Some people steal them and sell them on Ebay but that is besides the point) The Navy is under contract so we have no choice but to buy these over priced items that would cost less literally anywhere else. The owner of said companies are members of Congress. So the money they give to the military, goes right back into their pockets.

now with the republicans radicalicing under trump and moving to the right, the only way to get voters back, the democrats need to move left, so they give them a real alternative. going back to politics after trump you can score a lot with being serious about what exactly you want to do and be the complete opposite of trump. it might be bold but bernie is to old to run again, i guess. so democrats should move to the real left and implement her as president-candidate in 2024 or even 2020. this is the first time the democrats have a "hope" candidate after obama. they could earn a lot of momentum with her.

@FallouFitness_NattyEdition

@@vssage6899 V SSAGE We don't just "give" people money for winning the lottery. People pay into the lottery system because they choose to. People are willing to pay for a chance to win, unlike Cortez who wants to force me and everyone else to pay into the system so everyone else can have "free" shit. But hey, let me explain how the lottery works here real quick. Instant Winner Scratch-Off Cards. These are the games where you buy individual tickets and scratch them off to see if you win. Say, for example, you set up a game with a batch of cards that would cost $1,000,000 to buy them all. Have the cards printed so the prizes on all of them only add up to $500,000. Out of the remaining $500,000 you pay the cost of printing the tickets, advertising, selling tickets, and other overhead. You still end up with a nice profit left over. A weekly lottery where people pick a set of numbers and hope theirs are drawn. The prize grows based upon how much money people spend. Say, for example, people spend $100,000,000 in tickets and the jackpot is $100,000,000. No chance for profit you say? In the fine print, most of these types of lotteries say “payable over 20 years”. When someone wins, the administrators buy an annuity paying the jackpot amount but spread out into yearly payments over 20 years. They should be able to purchase one for half of what the total payout is. The other half of the money goes to overhead and another nice profit. The profit is literally baked into the system. The whole thing is structured to practically guarantee a decent profit. And this doesn’t even take into account lost or destroyed tickets that are never turned in and hence never paid out. Those are just extra gravy on the top. Notice how there is no mention of money being "given away."

@Nenette Santos - Obama had his heart and mind in the right place, and he even had experience as a community organizer (not to mention a law degree, intelligence, etc), yet he had a really hard time rallying the _Democrat controlled congress_ in his first 2 years. I genuinely believe this was simply due to his lack of actual political experience at such a large scale. AOC gives me _even more hope_ than Obama did, but please, let her have some hands on experience so she can build alliances and learn the necessary negation skills, to be successful, before considering her for POTUS.

As for the Republican in that race Anthony Pappas, he hasn't even put up a proper website for his campaign & has not even raised any funds for his race.
