I don’t know if it’s true for perfume, but vanilla scents turn soap brown when it goes through the chemical process, and the way that perfume is browned feels very similar. Might be something entirely different causing that brown-ness but I’d reckon it’s the vanilla

i own the vanilla. it turns this color over time as the vanilla oxidizes. doesnt affect the smell or longevity of it. also own the musk and hasnt really changed colors (had it over it year)

the brown is from the real vanilla in the perfume I msgd huda and asked when my second bottle of vanilla 28 was a completely different color then the 1st bottle. its normal and amazing imo :) hope you love it

It’s not for everyone, but personally I think it would be fun if they had a few advent calendars themed on different scents & makeup vs skincare. Like Rose would be rosewater scented stuff with lots of pink and some nude, Cucumber is self explanatory and some nice green and olive like shades. It really wouldn’t be that hard if they made the same products and just stuck them in different colored boxes.

Viruses typically have an incubation period of 2-3 days before symptoms start, it sounds like you and your family might have gotten food poisoning as that is MUCH faster acting, around 4 hours - 24 hours is when symptoms start typically being cold sweats, fever, and violent reactions like vomiting and diarrhea, and being that your body was fighting off bacteria that might have weakened your immune system and you caught the flu.....just a thought. Vanilla extract is essentially just alcohol and vanilla bean pods that have been soaked in the alcohol, so, I mean, it is essentially perfume I guess

The only thing I remember about vanilla from working in a cosmetics store is that it discolours heavily over time. Don't worry too much, it's normal and just means they used actual vanilla in their fragrance as opposed to a substitute for it such as tonka 😊

i don’t know if this is what the eyeliner is named after, but there is that pigment color called vantablack which may be where the name comes from? the name vantablack is trademarked so i’m guessing thats why they called it very vanta. if that is where the name comes from, that’s very ironic since vantablack is super-black and reflects very little light

Vanilin might be the cause of the browning in your perfumes. If you use vanilla in things with scent the vanilin has a chemical reaction that causes browning. Soap makers have some things to counter react the browning but most of the time the vanilin wins.

Idk of anyone else mentioned it, but I'm also in the art community so it's interesting to me that the eyeliner was called "very vanta". [TL;DR: If not interested in my rambling about vantablack etc, then skip to the last 2 paragraphs for my point lol] Vantablack was created, I think, with the intention of it being a car coating, and at the time it was the "darkest man made substance/marterial", due to how little light it reflects, it is said to absorb upto 99.96% of visible light. It's so black that if you coat a 3D object it looks like an optical illusion, almost looks like someone punched a hole out instead. So it seems like a terrible idea for a car coating, because surely it would cause visibility issues for other drivers (and pedestrians) on the road, especially at night & when in people's headlights. The person who created Vantablack gave the exclusive license to use it in paint form to a specific artist called Anish Kapoor. So no one else gets to paint with vantablack. This created a backlash in the art community from artists who argued it was unheard of to restrict use of a paint colour to one person. In an act of defiance because he also believes art supplies should be available to all to use, a British artist called Stuart Semple created what he originally called Better Black, then Black 2.0, and eventually the blackest one yet Black 3.0, and sold it through a company he created called Culture Hustle (they now make some other quite interesting art products like Lit - the glowiest glow pigment, and the Pinkest Pink, and I seem to recall they are a not for profit company). And he made Black 3.0 available to any one to buy...except Anish Kapoor. You have to tick a declaration when purchasing that you are not Anish and you aren't going to give him access to the product (clearly this comes across to me as a tongue in cheek pettiness, designed at highlighting the ridiculousness of restricting access to an art supply to only one person...idk if it would be legally enforcable or if Stuart actually would try to pursue it, I think it's mostly a stunt to highlight the issue because he believes that everyone should have access to all paint etc to create art, and in fact, I remember that on LIT, he states he wants it for all artists to share the light and - I had to double check but it states - with an * that goes to a footnote that if you are Anish, associated with him, or can ensure LIT makes it into his hands then your order will be free because "we wNt you to know how lovely it feels to [hashtag] ShareTheLight ). And of course because no one else can use vantablack and Anish cannot technically use Black 3.0, then it's almost impossible to compare them side by side. However using the sciency analysis. Black 3.0 as advertised as a light absorbant of 99%. However, even though it isn't the blackest black pigment/paint in the world, it was the blackest commercially available to the public for use. Then, in 2020, apparently inspired by Stuart Semple's effort, a Japanese effort created Musou black, which is claimed to be darker still with a light absorbency of 99.4%; as yet unverified, I think. Interestingly, vantablack in its original form is not a paint, but rather a material using carbon nanotubes, and it's that which is 99.96% light absorbant, the paint version they created (vantablack VBx2) is apparently only 99% light absorbant. And vantablack may not even be the darkest material anymore as MIT have made efforts to create material that is 99.996% (they anticipate it being useful for things like satellites). If the reported figures are true, that makes musou black the current darkest paint available to the general public. Black 3.0 is £99.99 for 1L, while Musou Black converts to £118.63 for 1L. Interestingly, their own page for selling Musou Black has safety precautions for use due tothe powdery nature, they say you should use a face mask & goggles, it also states that the painted object may shrink & crack, and "durability of the top coating is very low so fading & peeling of the coating will occur even with light contact". That sounds concerning for something so expensive and makes me wonder what they made it with, considering it's supposed to be an acrylic paint. Sure, you can varnish it, etc, but it shouldn't be a necessity. Hmm. So of course "Vantablack" is registered. VANTA itself seems to come from the acronym "vertically aligned carbon nanotube arrays" the material that vantablack was seemingly created using. I can't figure out if Vanta is trademarked or registered in anyway on its own (there are a few businesses that have vanta in the name and they vary in purposes, and several vanta logos that are TM too). All this back story to say, idk if Huda were allowed to use the name "vanta" for their eyeliner as it could be assumed by some to be related to vantablack or something. From a quick and tiny amount research it seems the carbon nanotubes would be at the least an irritant to humans (especially to the eyes & lungs), and could be potentially harmful, so I think it's safe to say there is no VANTAs in the eyeliner...I really don't know, as I'm not sure if it's safe for use on humans. Lol.

I think with the black eyeliner, it's supposed to mean it's a really dark black. Vantablack is the darkest substance, on the planet. Creates almost a negative space, when something is covered in it. So I think Huda was insinuating, that's the "darkest black," of black eyeliner.

My great grandma wore vanilla extract behind her ears pretty much all her life and my grandma did for most of hers. Great grandma always smelled like cookies and snuff...she could hit a fly with snuff spit...lol. SNUFF -that stuff was horrible and amazing at the same time. Snuff paste would pull out bee stingers and stop bleeding plus pretty much cauterize a wound, well it felt like it anyhow. 😭

I just looked up the Huda Advent calendar online and it's $218 plus tax I would love to know where you got yours from because this one is direct from the company and they charge you $25 to ship it. Maybe they put out more than one this year.

Maybe she got it while it was on sale since she bought calendars ahead of time. I'd say the company marks up the price closer to Christmas for last minute shoppers to have to spend more

Huda Beauty Legit Lashes is one of my everyday go to mascaras! I was so happy to see that in this advent calendar. I promise you will love it too. I use the curl & length side first and then I pop in that volume. I have naturally amazing eyelashes (thanks to my grandmother LOL) and this makes them POP and ppl have asked are you wearing false eyelashes....nope just Huda mascara LOL. You will enjoy this and its so worth the money. Side note I originally got this in the November 2021 Huda Ipsy Glam Bag X when they collaborated with her and since then I have seen it on Ipsy as an add on and even in the pop-up shop for around $12-$18 dollars, sooooo if you have Ipsy (which I know Alexandria does 😉💜more for everyone else to know) you can get it there if you're lucky. You could also go to it on Ipsy and if they dont have it they will send you to the website and sometimes offer you 10%-15% off the product since its been on Ipsy before. P.S. The bombshell Liquid Matte is a beautiful shade and a favorite of mine too! Damn do I need to get this calendar🤔🤔

I totally get what you mean about Avon perfumes! I collect the vintage animal shaped bottles, and they still have a whiff of that strong scent. 😂
