I really wish Vivienne Westwood used actual quality metals in their jewelry :( . They don’t even use silver or plated stuff. I had a necklace I wore everyday and it fell apart within three months. For the price you’re paying, you’d be better off getting Swarovski or things from a small business, they have much cooler designs and use QUALITY metal.

Happy Sunday Alexa ❤️ your hair looks so pretty today!! It’s giving summery beachy vibes! I love Levi’s, but only if they are vintage or older styles. I find that the cuts (usually the men’s) are so nice for a nice fit around the waist and baggy throughout the legs. They’re so durable and sturdy but since they’re worn in they’re also super comfortable and soft ❤️

As someone into the late 90s cyber y2k style, I can proudly say I’ve never fallen for the hype of “it-girl” brands. Some of the stuff I see from them is cute and looks cool, but I know I don’t have to buy them. I don’t influenced by social media and the only things I do get influenced by are what already fits into my style. It’s very liberating in a sense.

I really want to try Ganni, but they're SO expensive, even second hand. About Levi's, this time I disagree with you. I have one Levi's jeans that fits perfectly and another that fits so awkwardly around the legs that I cut it into shorts. I wore my long jeans all winter and now that summer is here, I wear the jeans that I cut into shorts all the time. Yesterday I found my favorite pair of short overalls in my closet and found out they are Levi's! I was so happy, I didn't remember they were from Levi's! All of my Levi's items are second hand and it can be a hit and miss situation thrifting pants or shorts.

Problem with contemporary Levis/Lee/Wrangler is that they are now made in different fabric composition that they used to be. Instead of 100% cotton it often includes some kind of elastane and the jeans stretch out and become baggy super quick. I'm a stickler for the OG denim brands but only ever buy them vintage as the new stuff is just crap imo 🤷🏼‍♀️

When platform shoes became a trend Crocs had their moment with their platform shoes which definitely made it an IT Girl brand. I don't think Free People is an it girl brand - maybe 10 years ago, but not really now. They used to have the most beautiful clothes and I bought almost everything from there when I was like 20, but quality has gone way downhill in recent years (and my style has just changed as I got older lol). Re Lululemon, I have a ridiculous amount of stuff from there and pretty much live in it due to my lifestyle - definitely worth the price. Have had lots of things from there for 5-10 years and it's still great! The store staff are almost always so lovely too, I find it an extremely friendly store to go into. And definitely great if you like basic black stuff (me too!) I would say Alo is more of an 'it girl' Athleisure brand than Lulu though. Was a bit confused about the inclusion of Revolve lol, was like 'that's not a brand, it's just a website that sells other brands...' Looks like you realised that after looking haha - they actually have lots of great brands. Edit - just got to the end of the video, and agree about Levis! I love them, but they just don't quite fit me right either. I also don't quite love rise - their 'high rise' is not quite high rise enough for me. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what the issue is, they just don't sit quite right :/

Levi's 501 have been forever difficult for me to fit into, they are made for people with no hips basically 😅 But luckily vintage models like 901 (a girlier 501) have done it for me and I fell in love with the 80s-90s mom jeans! It's also thanks to them if I found a compromise on the hated low rise 🤣 it's one of their vintage y2k lines with a very peculiar rise, high in the back, a deep v in the front: it sounds confusing but worn they are not only cute but also very forgiving on the belly!

Actually I have no hips. Or well, they're narrow in comparison with my torso and chest/shoulders, and the 501 fits horrible. It was so baggy at the hips and it's cropped, so not a good look on me. Honestly I don't know who this jeans are for. Maybe skinny people with an actual waist? Not me. I like their straight cuts and their dad jeans much better. I would love to find a bootcut second hand.

revolve used to be really great for international buyers - they would ship affordably items to places like NZ before the actual labels could. revolve would offer free shipping with certain spend, for love and lemons was like $40usd shipping no matter what. it was nice to be able to get the boutique brands more affordably. as years have gone on brands have improved their own e-commerce

Free People is really big with middle-aged women (like me). They are hugely overpriced and the quality is mediocre. I feel like they really target a kind of older woman who fancies herself "boho" and has the money to just buy stuff that might confer a "cool" image. The fabrics are always cheap, everything is baggy and huge, and it is all ridiculously overpriced.

I love free people! I have 2 tops from them that I both got second-hand, and 1 bralette/top that I bought new and I love them. The quality is amazing. I also love levis jeans. Especially their 501 cropped is the jeans for my body type. But I always get 1 size smaller because they get bigger/softer with a few hours of wearing, and I only have a small gap in the back which doesn't bother me because I like to have some room to tuck in my tops. The quality is great too. I would love to try Lirika Matoshi, especially their strawberry dress, but they are out of my budget and I haven't found their pieces second-hand yet where I live.

If they fit un obe place, they dobt fit in another - but mostly they fit taller, skinnier people better. And outside of the states they are so expensive. In Denmark we DO have a high WAT and retail tax, but tgey are still much more expensive than other heans brands, which are also fairly hyped. It's an eternal no for me!

The quality is really good but I wouldn't say they are the best jeans I've ever put on and I did buy them on Poshmark because I wasn't about to spend that much money on them. I've really tried to like Madewell jeans but every pair that I've bought were just ok. Also I love a high rise jean but theirs might be to high rise. I also have a love hate relationship with Levi's. As someone who's always been curvy the only time I can find Levi's that fit is if they aren't rigid denim. The higher the cotton content the worse the fit. I've tried every fit there is I think whether it be newer fits or vintage and I still haven't found one that fits well.

I mix up a lot of these brands just because they're so boring. But no hate towards them! Lululemon has always had a stain on it from when an employee MURDERED another employee in store. It was such a moment. But it's verging on ancient history at this point. I have a pair of Levi's from when i was in high school 20 years ago, from the era when it was still cute to wear huge pants instead of low-waist bootcut. They're maybe 2 sizes too big, and belting it makes a surprisingly trendy look. My jeans always wear out in the inner thigh, and these barely have a scratch. I couldn't believe it. Way to go, Levi's.

You would love them too. They are also 100% cotton and the detailing is so beautiful. Quality stuff you don't see anymore for $100. Stuff that won't make it to the thrift store because no one would ever get rid of it.

Tracey, you sound as obsessed as me with Free Peopled. The "Grey Hair and Tattoos" channel has so many Free People videos.

I’m sorry but I see free people in the thrift store too often where I live, it really isn’t all that great. Their stuff is on the same quality as Urban outfitters but way more expensive

@@mayve6251 You are correct that it is way overpriced for what you get. If I find a special piece that speaks to me I wait for sales to avoid paying full price.

I have read that Free People, Anthropologie, and related companies are owned by politically conservative people. This might be of interest to those who like the boho fashion trends. Have you researched the ownership of clothing companies that are popular today? That would be interesting. There is also the story of thrift stores conveying charity and not for profit status when they are in fact the opposite. This would be another interesting topic. Thank you for your thoughtful vlog!

I feel like every it girl brand you’ve ranked between this video and the last are all something that I would 100% rather thrift or find second hand than purchase directly from them. I’ve been thrifting for so long now that whenever I go into a brand’s store and see the quality vs the price it just makes thrifting so much more worth it to me. The only brand on here I’d buy directly from is Crocs 🫶🏻
