And I just checked the tourny standings - Aman won again in R7!? WOW. He is ON FIRE!! Tied for 9th after starting as number 39. Mad props for Aman!

edit: it was actually round 4 and not round 5. I was confused because in round 5 Aman beat another strong GM!

Speaking of; will you do commentary like this for round 5 too? Aman is killing it in Iceland!

How cool was that!? Awesome play. Often the best wins look so effortless. But the subtle moves had so much strength and simple perfection. Thanks for the analysis Eric.

After Qa2+ Kc5 you could also play Rxb5 to pick up the queen. Great game
@zevonmxic4687 жыл бұрын
Not that it matters much but at 10:34 Rxb5 first makes more sense to me....
@kntbaden7 жыл бұрын
he did say if the king moves anywhere, including if the king went to c5 instead of d4 in the example he showed. He was correct to say that QxQ then RxN would win in any situation. dont think a GM would play kd4 there, would look too embarrassing. to be down a queen haha

I randomly met Alexei last night in Riga, and didn't realise who I was introduced too. In my defense, I only got told his first name It was only until later my friend said, "That was Alexei Shirov" 😂
@Chillypuwn3 жыл бұрын
It is crazy to me how the material is even for most of the match and Shirov even being up 1 pawn at times, but because of the positional advantage Aman had the upper hand.

the sheer precision aman played this game with is incredible. i'm analyzing the game with stockfish now and his moves were rarely outside of the top 2 suggestions. apparently on move 31 he missed a tactic though, Nxb2, which would have inevitably won the knight back and stranded white's king without a pawn shield.

Was Shirov sober at the time ? Unfortunately he is inebriated more often then not these days, thus the decline in his play.
