I read the meaning somewhere else so I'm going to copy paste it here: "This might have something to do with me being an Iraq War veteran, but I see it as an anti-war song. "I did my time and I want out." The character is referring that he did his required time, either in Iraq, or in the military as a whole and wants out. "Go drill your deserts, go fill your graves" Pretty self explanatory. "Then fill your mouth with all the money you will save." While on deployment, troops make a lot more than back in the states. It's still not a lot, but compared to state-side, it's a small fortune. "I'm done! It has begun, I'm not the only one." The character is at his breaking point, he's fed up with the system as a whole. However, his psyche has been corrupted by what he has seen and done. There are others just like him. The chorus of the song refers to the overall corruption and death of a generation as a result of this war. "Fake anti-fascist lie." The lie based off of the poor intelligence that caused us to invade in the first place. "I've tried to tell you, but your purple hearts are giving out." The part about the purple hearts seems to have more than one meaning. The purple heart is a medal that the U.S. military members receive for being wounded in combat. Purple heart could also mean a literal heart that is in poor health. "Can't stop the killing idea. If it's hunting season. Is this what you want?" Now the character is out of the combat zone, back state-side, but all he has is a messed up psyche. Once the "kill switch" has been turned on, it doesn't turned off. All he has is pent up stress, homicidal and suicidal tendencies with a society that does not care or even blames him as part of the problem. Hence the whole term "Psychosocial.""

As an Iraq War Vet this 100% spot on. I hate being around normal people now. I've been alone for about 5 years now where I cut pretty much everyone out of my life. No one cares anymore. Its gross and I hate this world. People are trash. I was suicidal since I was young and coming back from the war just lead me down and a destructive path. No one tried to help and would instead just take and abuse me. Soon as my guilt leaves so will I. "No one else can see, the preservation of the martyr in me." I was ready to die for something. I come back to this and now I'm just waiting to find something to die for.
@Darkest4Huntress5 жыл бұрын
@@vailble8103 I'm so sorry that you felt this way. It is truly sad that so many people feel alone, unwanted, and uncared for in our time and age. I for one want to thank you for your time in fighting for my rights. I too have fought suicide and attacks by people. The thought is always there in the back of my mind. I don't listen to it but it stays ever consistent. I think for me this song always resonates with me because I feel like you do. I have fought in my own way to help others and to discover who I am. Only to later not be accepted but ridiculed and judged for my actions, thoughts, and opinions. I can not take away your lonliness with this statement but I hope it at least made you feel a little bit less pain knowing you are not alone and someone out here understands to a point and truly cares. Again, thank you.

Just a little back story on slipknot from a die hard fan.. the reason duality and psychosocial sound different than songs like people=shit, sic, and spit it out is because between the albums Iowa (w/people=shit) and volume 3 ( duality), Corey Taylor blew out his vocal chords on the Iowa tour from screaming to hard. Hence the increase in melodies and hindered screams

Eyeless is an awesome song but There really isn't one Slipknot song that is the "most intense" Eeyore is pretty intense and metabolic & the entire Iowa album! Lol
@drakeleslie33666 жыл бұрын
He's not ready for Iowa, that's really some dark shit and can be very unappealing to metal fans as well.
