@bernardlanguillier65Ай бұрын

Alexis played technically brilliant. The first set was a set of learning. Then he applied what he learned. His main asset is his power, and he managed to use it well. He also understood he has to shorten the points to stand a chance, and he managed to do it. Exciting match.

Ιnteresting to compare Qiu with the other Lebrun. Alexis has an advantage here because he is used to playing his brother Felix, who is a better penholder than Qiu. Qiu is more a conventional penholder. Felix is something special.

@michikatsutsugikuni3098Ай бұрын
@@AntAng-i1d And the average chinese youngster plays on the level of fan zhendong and ma long when they're just 16. Europeans have the advantage of having less competition, that's why they are higher in ranking and win against asian players most of the time (I mean more unknown ones obviously), however they are not really better in terms of technique. And felix doesn't have any potential left to grow with his current style. You can already see it with his results. He's peaked. Sure, he's only 18, but he's already been in the top 10 I think a year ago, he's lost his nr.5 position, and instead of making progress he became weaker.

If you want to beat Lebrun, you definitely need to be faster than him. Qiu managed this somewhat in the first two sets, but as soon as he started slowing down, Alexis took control

Dang's style is too risky, too extreme. You can't kill every ball off the bounce, and Lebrun is smart to exploit Dang's BH with high, long and spinny loops. He deliberately made the arc higher to give Dang some devious balls, easy if played at the top point, but difficult when ripped off the bounce. A guy like Hugo would have these loops punished, but it's Dang Qiu who never steps back to mid-court. The end of 4th game fell into Alexis' hands just due to this trick. Magic? Tactics.
