Dear @AlexisKingsley, I would want to thank you so much for the work you did here. I am in the middle of watching your entire playlist about planning and I am learning with you how to chunk backwards from my life dreams to daily actions. I can't say I am new to systematic approaches. On the contrary - I am very into time management, energy management and all those techniques that changed throughout time. I rarely leave comments (unfortunately, because I know that's good for content creators), but I could not skip this gratitude step and leave one below this video. Having New Year approaching I needed to get to order from chaos that I had emerged in my life due to traumatic events that happened to me in 2023. I have to get myself out of dark places and get back to order and my dreams. Thanks to you and your clear and concise, very specific and informative videos (lectures), I was able to emotionally get back to order and internal harmony that are necessary for me to move on. Thousand times thank you and I wish you all the best in your future grow and all your endeavors. 💜🌿

4:12 for people with aphantasia that can't work with a visualization exercise in the same way: Write a short story of this person, their life and how they got there. Or a mood board, a flip book, anything that feels like what you want to see. Make dioramas, paint and tag your dreams on walls and canvas alike. Write lists and brain dumps of keywords and synonyms. Bake cookies and use the icing to tell your story. Doodle scenes or write songs to sing into existence. Compose ballads on the electric kazoo. Plant gardens and make clothes. Cobble shoes or speedpaint memes in MSpaint. Write code or create a video game character. Visualization is not just pictures you can "see", but all the senses. Accessibility matters ♿

I would start by planning my habits instead of thinking about my dreams first. I set myself to fail when I first started doing the habits just because i thought it will give me results but it was all in vain because i was mindlessly doing something and just waiting for something to happen by doing the habits. You inspired me a lot with this video Alexis. Cheers!

Obviously creating habits to build routines to help you achieve goals isn't a new concept, but I can't recall too many processes where we start from the top and work our way down to the day-to-day, seemingly miniscule steps that will eventually help us get to where we want to be. I always had GOALS set but was never able to achieve it as never any SYSTEM set. After watching your video, i tried to figure out week by week whats the outcome and what i did over 3 months. I got below answer of my bad habits as NO SYSTEM set. 1. Maximum hours of day talking to my gf over the phone or chating with friends. 2. Spending time in gym for more than 3 hours , when my actual workout time is 1 hour. Wasting time talking to everyone there. 3. During free time watching multiple movies in netflix the name of refreshment. 4. Finally tired and sleeping on bed. 5. My studies for GOALS was only 10-15 mins 😢 I have prepared a GOAL plan now - week by week to track it and reach my SYSTEM . Will remember you for rest of my life for BIG help 🙏. Its time for ACTION in my life , rather than only setting GOALS and not working on SYSTEM set😊

I think its great that you started off with 10 year dreams. I tend to make unrealistic goals and give myself only a few months to achieve them, making myself feel really rushed and find it hard to find direction because there's so many things to work on in just a few months. I end up going nowhere. Setting a longer time frame gives greater perspective more doable task breakdowns!

This is the best advice I've found that properly describes how to create goals that are goals you'd actually want to achieve. Every other video just assumes that you have goals. Even if you have goals, I'm constantly wondering why those are my goals. Although I'm not totally sure about attack 1 goal at a time, I think the goals need to worked on somewhat together. I can't just become a business owner in 1 year. That could take 10. I could also focus on becoming a better cook at the same time.

For a long time I thought I had problems with consistently following a system like this just because I'm flighty and easily bored. But I realised that every time I was generally getting sick or depressed (I relatively recently learned I have IBD so why not both?) and every time that break in energy would throw me out of it. There's something to be said for, if you're not well, giving yourself a break is the right thing to do but also thinking at a regular interval "is it time to start the system back up again?"

Perhaps you’re expecting that your new goals or dreams should look similar to ones in your past. And that’s not necessarily the case. Also, have you considered setting external goals that affect the communities you’re a part of instead of internal goals that benefit your own situation? sometimes as we mature, we no longer feel the need to pursue personal goals that benefit mostly ourselves, and we are better positioned to serve our community. You’re on right the right path for asking.

I suggest you change the video to the next video in the series so that the viewer can seamlessly go to the next video in the series without having to navigate your channel or playlist to go there. In fact, the video there will just auto-play allowing the viewer to binge-watch all the videos.

Wonderful video! I'm curious; Are you trying to follow what James clear stated verbatim, or do you have a twist you're putting on it? Because in chapter 2 of atomic habits, where Clear discusses outcome-based vs identity-based habits. He talks about how the scoreboard takes care of itself. So, according to him there should not really be a specific outcome stated. Just change your habits and you will become the runner, or the person who doesn't smoke, or breaking the addiction, etc. I hope that makes sense.
