Honda is just listening to their customers ... Rugged looks, functional interior, very minimal gloss black, large screens without being too large and overwhelming like other cars out there.. no AC touchscreen nonsense, there is a button for everything, again without being overwhelming, a V6 engine.. what else you could ask for ? At least if the car is more expensive, it is actually justified.. for sure there will be a hybrid option when they update it after a couple of years, now I am excited to see the upcoming Ridgeline

Of-road ready? Seriously? Doesn't appear to have any more ground clearance than the 8.3" of the current model. However, with nearly wall-to-wall skid plates underneath, they'll definitely get a workout. What a waste.

Next up, the Ridgeline! This may give a preview for Honda's very practical, but much maligned, pickup's next generation. A lot of people don't talk about how wide the interior is on the Pilot/Passport/Ridgeline. It's only a couple inches narrower than the big body-on-frame size SUVs, so families have good room without having to spend $70k+ on a Tahoe/Expedition/Wagoneer. Given most people don't tow much (or at all), this is (as Alex would say) a very pragmatic choice.

Alex and Travis, I think it is time for Honda to get back together with Isuzu and build another body-on-frame Passport just like the original. This would give the 4Runner some overdue competition for customers of Japanese 4x4s. If Honda had remembered to include a 40/20/40 rear seat, those fishing rods 0:11 would be safely stored inside instead of leaning outside the Passport. 🤨

Thanks for the walk around Alex and Travis. Has Honda released any information about approach/departure/breakover angles and minimum ground clearance? The rear styling is giving 'please make this legally distinct from the other mass market SUV currently on sale' vibes. I think Honda should offer a front bench seat option. The lack of a 3rd row was a deal breaker for most shoppers who opted for the Pilot instead.

@SergeiAgalakov2 күн бұрын
It looks great. I'm slightly disappointed that Passport Trailsport won't have a full size spare by default. Also I'm not sure if a heated steering wheel is limited only to Elite version, it's kind of prerequisite here in Canada even for much cheaper cars. I'm not sure about practicality of the cloth on seats in Trailsport, it may be difficult to clean from clay etc. It's a real shame it doesn't have at least 9'' clearance, 8'' for an unloaded SUV is just not too much.

I might be greedy, but I would love an elite trim without the off-road bits. I love the size. I love the general look, but I can pretty much guarantee that you lose a couple miles per gallon with the all-terrain tires. Plus if I don’t take my car off the road, I don’t wanna look like a poser
@robb87737 сағат бұрын

with the full size spare option, they should of tried and find a way to attach x2 wheels. One on either side.....so the person can carry x2, or have the option on which side they want to carry at.
@dbeckMSP2 күн бұрын
i love this design. will be looking for these used in a few years! Alex - what's the point of a temporary spare if the full size wheel doesn't fit in the same spot? if you're full of camping gear, you're hardly going to have room to put the full size wheel into the back. wish it was a full size spare in the floor rather than that split design.

Only disappointment I see is that the front interior/dash is a carbon copy of the current Pilot except for the updated larger infotainment screen. Front door cards look the exact same as on the Pilot. Hood shape is the same as on the Pilot (except for the fake scoop). That’s not all bad. Remind me of an earlier gen Passport? Not to me, but it does remind me of the current Pilot with a shortened wheelbase and more rugged. Overall, though, this will be a hit for Honda.

The only thing this bums me out on is the ground clearance and the suspension droop. The front barely has any, which means if you want this lifted (which offroad should be closer to 10-12") you will be replacing all of the suspension. Maybe they went with it this low to gain mpg numbers?

I think it looks just fine, I like the styling and finer touches. It does indeed look like a bloated Bronco Sport but that's okay. For me it looks like they are targeting 4Runner sales with this model. I don't know why there was a mention of the Rav4 or CRV. I like the option of the fullsize spare but the netting is a terrible design. Just use a simple screw attachment to hold the wheel in place and provide a simple cover that maybe has some pockets sewn onto the outside for additional storage.

Just a general comment that the Passport reinforced. I really, really don't like how manufacturers have done away with actual bumpers. Just look at the front and especially the back of this Passport. The rear bumper doesn't even extend an inch past the rear hatch. That means in a rear-end accident; that rear hatch is going to take a lot of damage, increasing the repair prices 5 or 10 times.

Judging by the shift from cars, station wagons, minivans to SUVs one may think that road infrastructure in the US has been crumbling since the late 1950s. Expecting an integrated snow plow and an optional turret with a machine gun.
