I doubt that England would have voted to leave the UK if Scotland had already voted for independence.

But would Cameron have resigned if we'd become Independent and as it was him who put Brexit out there it might not have happened

The US would not welcome an Independent Scotland, I think the US would be very angry to lose a US military site with WMDs and we would have to fight the US hegemony! Stand up to them. Remember the visit by Obama during the Independence Referendum? ….yep, they were worried! We can do that though. Stand up for our right to regain our Independence! 🏴

How hypocritical it would be for one Nation which gained its Independence from Westminster/England, with Scottish and Irish help, to take umbrage. Sure the USA is a military power, but so what, that is only part of it. Too many Americans love Whisky and Golf!

We could argue and never resolve this. My major concern is that there is nobody in Government up to the tasks. Shona Robinson setting up a Central Bank and Financial regulator? Bring on some people who understand money and I might listen. I did a bit of consultancy when I retired and returned to Edinburgh. One was with a major very well known fund management company. Considering a contingency plan to relocate post independence if they felt it necessary. You know that forward planning is key for these people but not to politicians. The, it will be alright on the night, approach scares me. Fortunately my SIPP includes a bolthole south of the border. Always hedge your bets and investments. Enough of this I'm off for a beer. Have a good weekend.

No one has the attitude of "it'll be alright on the night". That is superficial and plainly ignorant to suggest such. Again, the point you miss is that the SNP will not be at the heart of the formation of a new Scotland. You are quite correct they are not up to the task, hence, they will not be at the table.

An independent Scotland can achieve, anything is exactly that. I was once at do in the presence of Alex Salmond. It was jolly do and much alcohol had been consumed. When jokingly asked if an indy Scotland could win the world cup, he replied. Don't be so Fing stupid. He went up in my estimation. He certainly has more business sense than the whole of the current cabinet.

It would take a decade to join the EU. Even the SNP say eight years.

Since 2014 & 2016 referenda the majority of independence supporters now advocate Scotland issuing it's own currency operated by it's own Central Bank. NB a currency issuer cannot be bankrupted.

What's so good about the so-called Union? It certainly has not been good for Scotland nor Scots. Plundering our resources, using and abusing our people, brutally so. The Acts of Union was actually an immoral act, as it was a few selling off the many into slavery for their own gain.
@haraldtheyounger55046 сағат бұрын
@@hashburystumble8808 Yep, the currency issue certainly is important, just as is understanding that Independence is not about the SNP and their useless underperforming. We will have our own National Bank, issuing our own currency. It is not difficult to set that up. As for England, just look at how they run or should I say ruin, the economy of their UK. It is a complete lie that Scotland has a huge deficit, especially so when England actually has one of some £77 Billion per year.

@@hashburystumble8808A currency can collapse. What credit rating would a new Central Bank of a new country with a new currency get?
@hashburystumble88086 сағат бұрын
@@ianscott3180 An independent Scottish currency has been predicted to have a superior credit rating than the rump UK for two reasons. 1) Scotland's resources & export potential. 2) Westminster's claim to be the 'continuing state' which means Scotland would start with no debt & the rump UK being totally responsible for current debt which would be even greater than the 100% of GDP that the current UK debt at present.
