Love how little time you spend editing. I am kind of the same; if using too much time it’s not the perfect shot from that very moment.

Amazing Alex. One thing that stuck out for me was your saying how you wanted all your images to be timeless. I agree 100000%. So glad your back on KZbin!

This was great. I love how humble you are, and you're one of few photographers out there at the moment that I genuinely feel tells a story through their photos. That's talent. Keep up the great work man!

Alex this is very inspiring, thankyou for the insights on how you think while photographing! Does your inspiration stay on automatically eventhough it is work for you? I often am slightly worried that if something you love becomes a work and means of living, it will kill your inspiration.

Love it - Great series, thank you for sharing. - Can you just mention here the dimensions for outputting to Instagram? I was told that 4x5 with the bottom edge re sized to 1080.. is this correct?

Alex, this is very helpful and inspiring! It's interesting to see the "behind the scenes" of your work. I have a question about exporting pictures for Instagram. So as I know, Instagram will compress images that are larger than 1080px. How can you save your images around 3-4000px and still have sharp images on Instagram?

Super cool videos Alex! Really inspiring, I feel like you're helping me to get out and continuing to push forward, a big thanks for that! I would really love to come and shoot with you next time you come in the Pyrénées or in Basque Country, it would be a pleasure to meet you in person. Milesker, ikus arte!

Very inspiring, thank you so much :) just one thing, aren't you losing some quality by uploading images with this resolution to Instagram? I've read that IG will compress every image to 1080 pixels of width (max being 1080x1350 for the 4x5 format) and you will always lose some quality in the process, which should make it advantageous to do the resizing on your own where you can control it and upload the smaller image which then stays the same after uploading... that's what I thought at least, does anyone have any better information about this? Anyways huge fan of your work! :)

Pongsakorn Thiangtrong hmm really? That's interesting, I usually get the image pretty much same as I export it... I also export on 76% quality which is a number some marketing people by trial and error determined to be the best for minimal quality loss when uploading... I don't know if it's this big of a difference though but it's something you can experiment with

Diam0ndt I was under the same impression from all the research I've done on the web. When I do it the way Alex shows in this video my file comes out like 6mb. In the past if I were to upload an image of that size it would look blocky on IG. Alex's photos are always clean and I've never noticed blockiness from IG compression. Am I missing something? Maybe IG has changed it's compression and it's no longer an issue?

what lens were u on for this series? 24mm?
@tpsb9593

Hello Alex! May I ask you about the size of the photo? If you crop it 4:5, why the width isn’t 1080? Image quality 100? Some say 76. And how about the resolution? 72,96,240,300 what’s the difference? Thank you
@alexstrohl
@alexstrohl 6 жыл бұрын
1080px wide wouldn't be enough for modern day social media. Most things are higher res like IG with 1600px wide. I've heard of this '76' quality but never saw any real difference so I'm sticking to 100. As for res I could export at 72 dpi yes but sometimes I run small size prints from my web saves so I'd rather keep camera-native 254dpi.

Great video Alex! Thank you so much! I'm curious, what settings (on ur 6D mk2 w/ 24mm 1.4) did u take the photos in (ie. Shutter/f-stop/ISO, etc) I'm tryna to learn more about photography & this would really help as a guide.. Thanks I'm advance!!

That's the way I learned and I have more precision on PS. And to be transparent, PS is like a second check for me. Gives me a second space to see my image in and fix quirks i would have missed
