😂 I just swapped my brother's 5.9 L ,2000 Durango. I was going to put a wrecking yard engine in it, I couldn't find a good wrecking yard 5.9 Magnum. His was actually a remanufactured engine, but I didn't know until it dropped a valve seat and blew up the #1 piston. I made sure this one did not have press in valve seats. The reason he decided to replace the engine, instead of buying another car, is. This one is still in good condition ,it's paid for. Buying a new engine and paying me = $4k car payments, then he's right back to no car payment. And it's a vehicle that the home mechanic can still work on. To those who ever replace a blown up 3.9- 5.2 or 5.9L Magnum engine. You really should get the Kegger intake manifold professionally cleaned. Replace the lower plenum plate with a Hughes Engines aluminum plenum plate. The reason you should get the Kegger intake manifold professionally cleaned or replace it with one from a non blown up engine. When these engines blow, it's common for them to kick broken metal and shards up into the intake ,where you ain't gonna see it. Then you bolt that manifold up to your new remanufactured engine and it sucks all that broken metal shards and peices into your new engine. Make sure you clean, and clean and clean the oil pan. Originally, we replaced his oil pan with a Dorman. It worked just fine until I turned the engine over by hand and the #3,#5 #4 & #6 connecting rods hit the brand new oil pan. I was forced to use the original oil pan. I blasted it with a pressure washer, metal flakes just kept coming out of it. I probably cleaned it 7 to 9 times before I stopped finding metal sparkles on a white paper towel. I've been working on cars/trucks for 30 years at this point. I've been offered auto mechanic jobs. I just don't really enjoy doing it everyday. I cannot stress enough how important it is to make absolutely sure that the Kegger is clean, the oil pan is clean. And if you can afford it, replace that steel plenum plate with the Hughes aluminum one, make sure to follow the instructions...exactly. your remanufactured Magnum engine should be all good.
