That durian = 80 Baht, the price is normal. She did not set a foreigner price. She gives you a lot of discounts because she sees you as a foreigner, so she wants you to try durian. Hope you have a nice trip in Thailand. 🎉🎉 💗 🇹🇭 💗 🎉🎉

As you already know durian is the king of fruits so the price is not cheap. The whole durians sell in kilograms and peeled ones sell in grams. Seeing the way you bargain just broke my heart for them. Pls don’t take thai generosity for granted. So many travel youtubers are doing that even though they earn a lot more money than people selling food by the roads.

Hello Suw, thank you for your comment. I bought fruit from them the entire time we stayed there and they were always smiling, saying hello and very nice. I asked for less than a usual serving, which is why we needed to come to an agreed price. Cheers

Interesting that you are making it sound like Western people are the problem here, when you know charging Western people more in your part of the world is rife. It "breaks my heart" that you are impugning travel bloggers and tourists are the problem here when it's the street vendors who decided to charge them more based on their appearance in the first place. If here in Australia people of European appearance charged people of Asian appearance more, you would be outraged. Travel bloggers are standing up to dishonesty and you have the nerve to say they are problem. You cannot handle it that non-Asians are not acting passive in your country, whereas if you were ripped off in Australia by people of European appearance you would label it racism and your calling it out would be completely justified in your eyes. Nice perspective to see the value you place on honesty.

@@anthony.3614in Thailand we not bargain for food. If we not agree with the price. We just leaving. That what he try to say. In durian are very expensive. It the most expensive fruit in Thailand. And all this vendor are not the farmer. They are middleman. Don't drag racism to this conversation because in Thailand we don't do racism. We don't even understand racism

@@MARYandTheCAT Ok but you know very well that in Vietnam and many of your neighbouring countries, it's very normal to rip off people based on their appearance. I assumed it were a thing in Thailand too. Asian countries are the most racist parts of the world actually.

@@anthony.3614 you talk like you never been in Thailand 😁 I think all in the world know that Thailand are different in Vietnam. That's why Thailand is the world destination for people. Anyway. I will tell you. Thailand people are only eat durian once or twice in a year. That how expensive it is. Some farm even cost you 1000 dollar for one durian. And it not the most expensive one yet. The normal durian will cost you about 40dollar for one. And that grandma give him a lot of discount. Thai can't find it everywhere for one piece of durian at 40bath. She possibly want him to try. And all the vendor in Thailand. Are not separate the price foreigner / Thailand. It's the law that price must be clearly show.

This price of durian is normal. Monthong durian One set will start at 250 baht ++ or maybe more depending on the place of purchase. (Long distance transportation, a lot of shipping costs) and more or less productivity depends on the weather each year. because it is a seasonal fruit produce results in a short period of time Durian is not a year-round fruit. And cause some of the produce from the garden to be booked in advance over the year to be sold abroad. Only a few percent of the products sold in the country are produced. make it expensive And Thai people are willing to pay a high price because it is a fruit that is not available to eat all year round. There is only a period of 3-4 months.

Durian is expensive as usual, sometimes I buy it for 500 baht per pack. But she was kind enough to give you a discount and only sell one piece. We, Thai people, buy a kilo of fruit. Things in Thailand may be cheap but there are some things that are expensive. I hope you enjoy trying different fruits.

I lived in Thailand as an exchange student for a year and absolutely loved it and I go back to visit my host family as much as I can. This video brought back so many wonderful memories and made my mouth water with all those wonderful Thai dishes. Durian is one of my most favourite fruits, although I almost got in trouble in Singapore once for having possession of it on a train, as I didn’t know about that law!! It didn’t help either that my partner was yelling out to everyone and pointing at me saying “this woman has durian”… funny… but not funny… I would have been really peeved if I’d been locked up for it!

I’ll watch it now. I love seeing your adventures and sharing your experiences, thank you both so much for taking us along with you. I spent a lot of time in Chiang Mai and Nth Thailand and was amongst some of the first ‘Falungs’ to venture high up into the lesser known hill tribes 38 years ago. They had never seen white people before & thought we were ghosts and kept touching my hair and pulling it out. An adventure I’ll never forget and had a few near death experiences along the way… but that’s another story. Tips for life - don’t go to high altitudes without appropriate survival gear, don’t pick opium poppies and make necklaces, don’t hike narrow cliff top drop off tracks at night & don’t use the toilets that are over a pig pen or you might get a surprise snout somewhere you’re not expecting!!

I also miss the street food omelette that you can select any ingredient by yourself to get full cup then you can select either 1 egg or 2 eggs with additional cost probably to 40 Thai Bath if one egg might be only 30 baht as well as I like to ask more free spicy sauce or some restaurant they also provide special Num Prik Krapi (local Thai recipe Sauce)that also hot and tasty to eat with free chopped cucumber. 😋😁🥰🙏🇹🇭.

Me and the Mrs LOVE durian. We have not tried the fresh fruit yet but we have tried it in pastries and desserts. When we go to dim sum we always order Durian puffs. The taste is a cross of sweet fruit with onion/dirty gym sock 😂 but we cant get enough of it. We cant get it back home (Puerto Rico🇵🇷) so we travel to NYC a lot to get our asian food fix.
