I honestly enjoy it when you go into "history nerd" mode. Some of my favorite videos are the old Scotland and Ireland ones where you guys talked a lot of history and dressed up in dorky Viking costumes and stuff.

This is what happens when you have well researched topics rather than the pointless in passing comments from 99% of youtubers. I watch a lot of Italy vlogs and the vast majority of youtubers make zero effort to speak any Italian. Anyway, I loved the video as well. Definitely my top vlog channel.

Amazing video Alex with great tips. I will add two visits more. One the amazing Gallería borghese with her amazing sculptures like "Il rapto di proserpina" made by Bernini and the other is Trajano's market. In my visit of Rome this two activities were an incredible surprise. Only one advice, if you go to the Gallería Borghese you need make a reserve with antellation because only permit 200 people every two hours. Sorry if my english is not good enougth

Hey Alex, loved this!!! Love Rome but there is one tip I want to share with anyone who, like me, gets travel sick AND booked accommodation outside of the city. I rented a car - not difficult or even particularly expensive. However, almost 4 year after i got home i got a letter from a UK debt collection agency telling me I had committed some traffic violation and the Municipality of Rome had sent them the paperwork to collect a massive fine!!!! Much arguing with the debt collection agency, alongside much research, identified that this is a situation that many foreign tourists find themselves in but getting clear evidence that I did actually commit the crime was impossible. Eventually, learned the agency sent the debt back to the Municipality of Rome and I've heard nothing since. Its completely unclear whether this is now history or whether it may come back to haunt me. Do I want to go back to Rome? Hell yeah!!! Will I? Well, I don't know. I cant find out whether its real or a scam!!!! Either way, if motion sickness is not an issue, use the public transport!!!!! Problem solved.
@AlexanderAyling5 жыл бұрын
That’s so crazy I had the exact same thing happen in both Siena and Tuscany, one parking and one speeding. Needless to say after much research I proved they were legit and paid the fine. Not fun

Great video and cool tips. With the Sistina I'd suggest to book an early morning tour which includes being the person who opens the doors of the chapel. I haven't personally been part of this tour, but last time I went home my daughter had the privilege to do so. We got to the museums about 1/2 hour before opening and charged straight to the chapel because we'd been there a few times before. We were the 1st to arrive (apart from staff). Right place, right time. The chapel is so different with only a dozen people there. An experience not to be missed. As for accommodation, we've stayed near piazza Bologna only 2 metro stops from Termini and easily walkable; Esquilino; out near Cinecitta` to name a few. Basically the further out of the centre the cheaper, roomier, and more authentic it gets.
