Rain will sit in the top bowl and rot the seed and wood, it needs drain holes. How will you clean out old nests? Needs a opening on bottom. Lovely bird house.

The inside of the birdhouse should not be smooth. It needs to be left rough to give purchase for getting out. Some even cut grooves on the inside to aid in climbing out

Nice little project, but as others have said not the best nest box. The feeder on the roof, the perch, coating the inside with beeswax products all totally unfit “additions” for a good nesting site. But it looks nice.

That's a really nice bird feeder and birdhouse one thing when you put that stupid on there the bigger birds will land on it try to take whatever is inside out maybe the babies so maybe break it off or whatever cut it off they really don't need them to get into the birdhouse something you may want to do look it up just a thought.

Nicely done, however one should never fit a perch on a functional birdhouse. It just gives easy access to predators and isn’t necessarily for the nesting birds.

It was good until you put the perch on. Birds will not use them with porches. Larger birds use them to attack the babies.

Hello, I also have the DB 900 lathe and always have problems with the nuts coming off the tailstock and the palm rest, do you have that too? Первое правило при изготовлении скворечника, это то, что дерево внутри НЕ ОБРАБАТЫВАЕТСЯ. Оно должно быть максимально шершавым. Отполировать, а тем более покрыть маслом это жестокое издевательство над птенцами.

Great ornament,sadly as a bird nesting box it’s a disaster....no offence meant...never fit a perch it aids predators and never have a food supply near a box a breeding pair would never get peace to nest

Totally agree, lovely turning skills and a nice ornament but very bad design as a nest box. Never put a perch on the outside, the nesting birds don’t need it but predators do, and the roof feeding tray is just a water trap and will attract other birds which will put the nesting birds off. Also, the nesting chamber is a push fit onto the roof section. If the wood moves due to weather etc. the nesting chamber will be on the floor.

This is the most idiotic birdhouse I've ever seen. Get rid of the perch and the seeds top. The feeder vill disturb nesting birds (if you get one to nest, with I doubt), and the perch makes it easier for other to get access to the eggs/chicks.
