Nicely done, sir. Very off white color of the wood gives it a haunting appearance. Did you leave the hole on purpose? Adds to the overall mystique of the bowl, all the white and then that one dark spot, interesting.

That was a very nice shade of maple wood! Maybe you could have decorated the hole with an accent of color to better match with the otherwise solitary splash of red on the rim! Overall, a very well done bowl! :D

Very nice, I'm sure the camera doesn't do that piece justice. Interesting tools you were using, that wasn't a Bowl Gouge was it, I know the other flatter one was some sort of Scrapper though.

Maple? It looks a lot more like box Elder to me! But beautiful anyway. Montana Wood Art.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_negundo You are correct it's a type of maple, but so is sugar maple, hard maple , etc. Box elder I think is different than other types of maple in the way it turns and in appearance to call this piece what it looks like ... Box Elder.
