I think this clip dates from the 1975 UK referendum known as the Common Market Referendum held on 5th June 1975 to check the support for membership which was automatically done on 1st January 1973.

Alan McDonald - If there’s any quotes from the time of filming then your claim would maybe hold water. It’s a nice but if backtracking from Warren to say it was satirical many years afterwards when times and views had changed.

Alf Garnett came before Archie Bunker. Till Death Us Do Part started in 1966 here in Britain with Alf, your version in the US started in 1971. So I think Alf has more experience of being the utter bigot.

Archie Bunker is the sanitized American version. Archie was Alf Garnett rewritten for more delicate American sensibilities.

Actually Archie Bunker is based on this series. In the credits of Bunker of series 1 you'll see its 'based upon' credit as this series was actually licensed by Johnny Speight + The BBC as a format to the Bunker creators. Doubt me? Check Wiki. Check VT of the series too. But in closing you are spot on here. Hats off.
