Great review! I bought a 2017 model, and this year I traded it in for the 2021 model, and like you mentioned I love it everytime I drive this car! It's absolutely a great car to drive! Not too many unnecessary gadgets, this is a DRIVER'S CAR!! No laptop screen sticking out the middle of the dashboard, a car where the driver is king! If I want a self-driving car I'll take a taxi or Uber! In the winter months I store it and I drive my old Dodge Ram pickup, and when spring comes and I remove it's winter cover it's like buying a new car every year! That first spring drive makes me so happy, it's like Christmas in April! lol!

However I am happy that there are true drivers out there like yourself that will enjoy the cars like an enthusiast. Unfortunately people now thinking about real estate with vehicles and instead of driving and enjoying them, they inflate prices for the real enthusiasts that will truly enjoy the experience. Looks like the next car is a QV.

"Mechanical issues...and the car has been in the shop for several months". Exactly why I have never bought this Alfa despite admiring its performance and styling. I drive a 2017 Chevrolet SS with 6-speed manual, 6.2L LS-3 V8, great suspension, handling, brakes, wonderful engine note. Chevy dealer network is huge, and I have not had ANY issues or repairs - just change the oil and oil filter. The SS is my daily driver, and I just can not own a car that is not reliable. It has been a wonderful combination of performance and reliability.

Hi Phil. Another Phil here. Love your car and this video and am now a new subscriber. I recall in this video that you asked for content suggestions since you said that you won't be getting anything new in the near future with this car market so I just wanted to suggest that you should just post content of you just driving your cars on cool roads in your area--particularly this one. What I mean by that is just set up a camera maybe of you driving the car from the inside, camera set up next to the tailpipes, and a camera maybe set up on the shoulders of a hairpin turn as you drive. I don't know if that makes any sense but a channel that I used to watch called Gears and Gasoline posted just a couple of videos in a called "Just Drive" that they unfortunately only did twice but I absolutely loved and may give you some inspiration. Anyways great channel and you got yourself a new viewer. Cheers.

Thank you for the detail review of your experience. I have a 2017 myself and love it as much as you. My experience has been similar with the Alarm, Battery & Water issues but thank god I have not experience any mechanichal failures or breakdowns. Thank you for mentioning about the battery module and will mention to my shop to confirm it was changed. The Fuell Pump I havent experience any problems but will keep in mind as It might come up. This is a beautiful car and I have receive many compliments on it. The breakdowns however you mention are starting to concern me as in the warm season in Canada post pandemic I will be starting to do about 2KM a week traveling between Toronto & Ottawa. If the car break dows I will be screwed. Perhaps I will consider using the car only for fun and get a second vehicle but as you said I cant find any car out there to consider. I keep looking at car shows and videos and as all car companies are now focused on electric its hard and risky to decide. Maybe I get a Prius or Camry Hybrid till the technology is proven Thank you again for not giving up to the old Guilia as a true Romeo :)

Holy Moley! I thought I was Alfa’s No.1 Fan…. But Phil I will relinquish that title to you! I own an Alfa 75, 156, 166 gulietta QV and my daily drive.. Stelvio diesel (with 95000kms… touch wood it’s been 100% trouble free) and I must say I have never experienced anything like you have had to put up with your QV. I agree the service network is crap! Like you mentioned, no other car is worthy of putting up with …like an Alfa Romeo… they are god damn so unique in the way they make a mechanical device with a SOUL🍀!!! I drove a Gulia QV last year 🔥🔥🔥 and am considering getting one hopefully soon…. But your video did unsettle me a wee bit… ( I want the car but the dealers /technician are dopes and need to be sent back to training!! Great video thou 👍👍👍

Thanks for all your awesome content on this car. Your testimony based on so much experience with exotics speaks volumes on how great this model is. Massive respect. I’ve had my 2017 Giulia QV for 3 years and loved every moment. I’ve had very few issues and can report that my local dealership in Sydney (McCarrolls) has provided good service. My lease and extended warranty are up in June 22 and I’ve been toying with switching to a Tesla Model 3 Performance. Hi, your videos are rather long. You are one of the reasons I pulled the trigger and bought a new 2019 QV. I have 20k miles with no issues at all. Never seen a warning light. I did put new tires after 10K on the original tires before replacing them. My only worry has been the lack of competent mechanics at the dealerships. Also no secondary market repair shops. I love the car. I came out of a 2015 911S which had several mechanical problems that the dealer wasn't able to fix to my satisfaction. The Giulia QV is a superb car, as you said, its a once in a life time opportunity to own one of the worlds great cars.

thanks for sharing and yes so many people think the German cars are bulletproof meanwhile the service shops are packed wall to wall with them every day of the week in frustration. I had my share of BMW and AMG issues but luckily it was so easily remedied with the corporate headquarters being local and the dealers willing to do the right thing. Alfa on the other hand is such a small scale brand still and with only 2 main products to sell here I do not see things improving unless serious money was pumped into the brand.

Bought a 2017 in 2019, trading in my Audi RS3. Put the Hawk street pads on at your recommendation to try to get it to behave in traffic (I’m in Westchester, too). Burned right through the front rotors :/ pilot sport AS 3 for colder weather … aaaand just traded it for a Mach 1 (baby GT350) with Handling package and Getrag 6 MT. The Alfa is ok-ish. It’s a hoot to chuck around. Very comfortable on the Highway. Pain in the ass in traffic. It feels like the torque converter never stalls out and the brake-by-wire system goes from zero to (I’d guess) 20% clamping force if you breathe on the stop pedal. This combines to make it near impossible to perform a limo stop. Can’t be consistently driven smoothly in stop-and-go traffic. Wouldn’t recommend this car. Local dealer are also a Maserati dealer and are quite snobbish. Compare this to the local Audi Sport dealer, who are sweethearts.

I don't care what this guy or anyone else says, I will buy one of these cars. I've owned two Alfas before and never had any problems whatsoever. If you never owned an Alfa Romeo you don't know what you're missing. I know BMW M-Benz Audi Volvo and Lexus all have problems too. No car is perfect. A friend of mine has a Lexus and nothing but trouble. I am looking forward to my new Alfa Romeo Guilia QV very soon.

Your friend with the Lexus... I would like particulars on the car and him. I my years and years of automotive experience I've never come across one person complaining about a Lexus unless of course if the car was absolutely driven like garbage and never taken care of. Also I pick up on you just slamming in the Lexus badge there to just justify your live for alfa. If that's the case, you're just very passionate lol.

Just a thought, with all the work you have personally done, you should open a shop to make others car as good as yours, just train a guy to do it like you do. The experience you’ve gained and time invested in learning the ins and outs of the car is definitely worth starting a shop over.

Amazing. I've never had a warranty claim on my 2015 Acura TLX...nor had to do anything but basic maintenance. The rap sheet on this thing is crazy. Granted, I'm sure this thing is way more fun to drive when not in the shop or breaking down in the middle of the road.

I had an early production 2017 2.0 model and it was an absolute joy to drive. I had constant issues with car going to limp mode and several electricial problems ( headlights flickering, not recognizing key fob) but boy was it fun! I swore never again as BMW is fun to drive and more sorted out with reliability wise…yet here I am looking at these videos again….

There’s so many tried and tested remaps that make a massive difference in the drivability and performance of the car. I appreciate the worry of further issues but speaking from my own experience I feel you are missing out massively on that. Mine has a Celtic Tuning remap on the engine and gearbox and it’s been absolutely faultless. I drive it hard in race mode everyday too so it’s certainly been put through it’s paces

I've driven Guilias.... doesn't even come close to a BMW... in every aspect. Moreover, (and I appreciate your transparancy), you'll never see anyone list all the crazy problems you listed with that car (at only 4 years old) with a BMW. Yeah, the G80 is more expensive to own but it sure won't give you the problems that the Guilia will - in that instance, the Guilia will cost more in financial problems over ownership time. I've seen the M3 beat that car... drag and rolling race. Don't get me wrong, I think your car is beautiful beautiful beautiful, but it's a 3 Series copy. Alfa Romeo blatantly based their design off the M3. It blew me away hearing you disclose all the issues with that 4 year old car. You saved me a huge headache (because I actually considered one) and I appreciate that, and it sucks because I LOVE Alfa. I'll stick with German high end performance. But if you enjoy your car, that is all that matters in the long run. P.S. again, your review and overview was fantastic.

Hi Phil - Really love and appreciate your content, knowledge, style, and perspective on the various cars. You're an excellent communicator. It's because of your channel that I had the confidence to get an Alfa Romeo to replace my BMW E92 335i that was rear ended in a low speed accident. I've been a BMW guy for 43 years - I even own a few shares of BMW stock. I needed a change because the last two generations from BMW don't put a smile on my face. In May of this year I got a 2019 Giulia Ti Lusso in Monza Red/Crema with 8,500 miles that's CPO through January 2025. I think I'm about ready to order a 2022 Quadrifoglio in Etna Red. I really wish a saddle interior was offered. 1) Do you think the carbon fiber seats would increase the collector value of the car by enough to offset the extra cost? 2) Any sense of how many years the Giulia / Guilia Quadrifoglio (Giorgio platform) may be in production? Thanks!! Larry - Santa Cruz, CA

I have an 18' Giulia Ti and I went through hell fixing a variety of things through warranty like the "service electronic throttle", stuck sunroof, stop start malfunctions, headlight condensation, turbo replacement. I took months and months and my experience through several dealerships were all pretty terrible. But I LOVE the car and with all the issues fixed and there being no supply, I suddenly find that it's not worth the money to seek out another vehicle that would be significantly better than my Giulia now. Now I don't have a single problem with the car. It's what I wished it was from the very beginning and I'm not suffering markup pricing to get a car that will only improve upon it with updated infotainment and telematics. I bought it to have a good driver's car with unique styling and now it finally it is. Would I do it again? Easy, no, but it's done and I'll keep the rewards of my labor, so she's staying. The Giulia seems like a very well designed and solid car that was victimized by poor quality control. None of the issues would have been as bad as they were had it not been for the difficult dealerships that refused to participate. I'm partly curious how long this "perfect state" will hold up. Time will tell.

Awesome video and great insight to your ownership experience. Agree with your takeaway. Too bad we can't have access to a F1 engineering team of mechanics to repair, troubleshoot and fine-tune the performance. Another issue currently impacting German automakers is the fact they've been in a recession, which has effected the delivery and has led to the slow resupply of new vehicles. This is a result of rising energy costs with lack of supply to meet their energy demand, dramatically slowing down their overall manufacturing capabilities. More than likely won't see an improvement until late '23/'24.

great to hear the cars with most of these issues mostly are the 17 and early 18 models however the battery and voltage module can affect all years and according to the master tech he said this plus software will always solve all electrical issues. In my case parts were broke due to rough mechanics which was completely out of my control but it was a long battle to finally rectify the issues.
