Apparently, the reliability has greatly improved since the 2020 model year. Many owners of recent Giulias are reporting very few issues and relatively high reliability.

Can vouch, not a QV but got a 2020 Ti Sport Carbon with 55k miles, second owner. Not a single problem and it’s daily driven.

My car is currently at 11k miles, and no issue. Currently held at Yokohama bay as I just imported from US. May be reliability is something to do with drive frequency. This is my 2nd 2017 QV, and I don't have anything bad to say about it. I really don't see any better 4door cars in current market.

I've had one for 3 years and it's the best car I've ever owned. Unfortunately, tomorrow is my last day with it as I let her go to move on to a Porsche 911. But in the future I think I'll circle back and buy a giuilia QV for the garage, it's an amazing car and a future collectible.

2018 Stelvio Quad with twin turbo failure at about 40K. No other major issues. Had them replaced under warranty. Still love the car, drive is unbelievable.

I also have a 2018 Giulia Quadrifoglio. I have had absolutely NO issues. Please note that all high-performance cars depreciiate similarly. Thi=uas I am kind of surpsed with your reasning. Please read oweners reviews and you will find that the QVs are quite reliable, especially compared to the high performance models from Porsche, BMW, Audsi, Mercedes. None of the later are as relaible as to Toyotas or Subarus. Keep enjoying your QV.

I am an Alfaholic I own a 91 Spider (sublime) a 2017 Stelvio and a 2019 Quadrifoglio. They have all been fantastic Vis a Vis dependability. Do the regular maintenance and this brand is every bit as dependable a any other brand. I wish I had a dollar for every Mercedes or BMW I have seen cruising by on the back of of a tow truck in the last several years. You like driving??? buy an Alfa you will never regret it!! Every time I start the engine of anyone I smile like a Cheshire cat. MEOOOW

I think you meant to say accessory belt. The Giulia Quad does not have a timing belt. Very uncommon problem to break though. This is the first time I've heard of an accessory belt breaking. I have 2018 as well and visit the Giulia forums daily. Per chance, was the belt not changed at the maintenance interval (60,000 km or 4 years, which ever comes first)?

I have a 4c spider since 2019, no issue and good reliability. I’ve bought a Giulia QV 7 months ago, it’s a fantastic car. It seems to have a good reliability.

I think if buying used understanding the cars history and common errors are key. I have 20k on mine and other than maintenance it has been great. Understanding that maintenance is key I think is the most important part of owning these cars. I do my oil changes at 5k and belts at 30k.

Did the warranty cover the blow engine? Sounds like it was a user error not a manufacturer defect!

Fortunately the warranty did cover the repair after they checked the ECU, Japanese dealership is super reasonable!!

If you paid USD 93k five years ago, then the price really hasn’t increased very much over time. A new 2023 ARQV can be had now for USD 82K (in the U.S.).

The history between Ferrari and Alfa goes back further and deeper than you realise. Check out their history, the four early racing drivers for Alfa and where the cloverleaf comes from and why it’s triangle!! You’ll find a certain Enzo Ferrari was one of the Alfa factory drivers!!

Don’t get an early one. Some say, wiring looms were not sized right creating elec issues. 2018 on was fixed

Alfa has always been about character and emotions for me. As Jeremy Clarkson once said, every petrol head needs to own an Alfa at least once in their life. I was seriously looking into owning but the way our UK government keeps making petrol/diesel car ownership unattractive we’ve ended up adding a Kia EV6 GT to our ownership instead.

Same here! EVs are great vehicles, but not machines that can excite us patrol heads… wish there is no permanent ban for patrol/ diesel cars in the future.

@@ShogunAutosport yeah, as a daily the EV6 GT and 575BHP is entertaining enough for launching and comfortable for cruising but not enough excitement. For now I also have a Focus ST for petrol gun but heavily leaning towards eventually switching to a FK8 Civic Type R or something German. Not sure yet but really want to go back to JDM.

I have had three Alfa romeos. I had 2017 Giulia quad, then 2019 Stelvio 2.0 and then agains 2023 Giulia quad Total of 100K miles on these three cars not even a single trip to the dealer for any repairs.

Shame people got misled. Ive had my QUadrifoglio since 2020 daily driven, no issues at all. Also had a regular giulia and a normal stelvio. No issues at all on those either.

Such a clickbait title and a blown engine thanks to your extreme driving? Anyway, you are testing a 2018 Giulia, which is notorious for having some quality issues. From 2019/20, it has been significantly improved inside and mechanically (e.g. more advanced direct injection engine). Some fan boys will claim the steering feel has been ruined, but the Ackermann angle change is marginal and it was to remove the front wheels hopping at full lock. Also, it is rubbish that the new one's noise has been ruined. It is now simply more refined as a car of this level deserves to be and no longer raw and under-developed. The infotainment is faster now (still not up to the Germans) and the reverse camera is low resolution. But driving wise, it is still a dynamic marvel. Last but not least, during the pandemic it lost custom options (eg grey dashboard and door stitching only and red or black brake calipers) and the standard painted roof is now steel, while the interior is full leather (unless you option the Sparco seats which are still Alcantara/leather and come with white/green stitching). The new Giulia's are as reliable (or not) as rival cars.

Solid points and we totally agreed with you! However, we did this video based on Jacky’s 5 years ownership experience of his particular early model 2018 Giulia Quadrifoglio. We did appreciate the car and how Alfa Romeo created this modernised, elegant sports sedan and I guess that’s why Jacky is still happily putting mileage on the Giulia after all the troubles, love hate relationship innit?

Perhaps newer gen's steering feel changed due to active lane keep assist which must mean they added motor or new mechanism somewhere between steering to wheel. IDK, I never looked into this as I don't own newer model lol.

@@xtadeus4777 the drivetrain (Alfa/Ferrari engine and German ZF transmission) is solid. The electronics and fit and finish can have issues, but it is a quality product the same

@mrblocku4152 Rear dampers leaked and replaced under warranty. Rear wheel bearings, which I put down to a bad batch since I haven't had any fail in cars for decades. Car is great fun. Smooth and quiet in a built up area and an animal on the right road.
